Hi all its been a while since I've posted but depending on how things go im back to post more stuff. I've acquired a lot of new and sold a lot of the old so you're probably not gonna see a lot of repeats. This video details my Vietnam War M1 helmet collection so far.

Hello I would like to add some comments on these helmets. First first you got your helmet was issued at CIF the Central issuing facility. Second, you would get a subsequent pool from your supply room. Or you could buy the parts at what we call the clothing sale store. And when I was a private, we would have what they call the layout inspection where all your gear had to be laid out and you would have a senior ncl. First sergeant or a sergeant major come and check your gear at. A few times along the way, my career in the military very early back in the 80s. When I was in Germany I was issued a helmet and a helmet liner where the helmet had probably more than likely. It was a Korean war chinstrap and the helmet. When you get it from CIF. Basically somebody just hands you a helmet and it's yours to take care of. During a few inspections where I had my gear looked at the sergeant. Major had commented that the my helmet should be repainted. So to do that, we would go to the clothing sales store where you could buy OD green spray paint. And we would repaint the helmets. The chinstraps say the older anything before the eightit would be changed out. I you also must say. I was in the army the first time from 80 to 83. The chin straps you would go down to your supply room and get a new chin strap. The kind that clipped on to the swivel balls and then you're sweatband as they basically got staying, you would go downstairs and get a new sweatband and replace it because, during the inspections, your stuff needed to be in better condition than it was issued to along the way I had. I had received probably Korean war gear that had to be updated to the 80s standard. So how much were painted repented? Chin straps were changed almost. We're changed almost as often as you wanted to change. It cause you can just go buy a sweatband origin strap at clothing sales for a couple of dollars. And everybody wanted to have the newest and the best, so all of those old. Now vintage or antique chinstraps and sweatbands and helmet liners. Were basically all changed out as the soldier thought that he might need a new one. So I guess basically what I'm saying is you could have a World War 2 helmet with 80s, chin strap and. Turn in your Korean war era, helmet liner to get and then basically you would change your sweatband out. Add the new naturede strap and you were good to go. Because, as any soldier with no dirt or rust on any of your gear is a no no. And you would get gigged for that. I think I got a few gigs on my helmet along the way. Just wanted to throw that out there. So I don't. Your videos were great and i've been collecting now for about 55 years thanks

Not a military expert but maybe the "every mans war is here" graffiti in the helmet could refer to the mental battle going on in their heads.

I definitely agree I think it has something to do with that. I was wondering if it was a reference to maybe a song or book or something in addition.
