Better weapons doesn't equate to better chances of success against the Military, especially when the 'army' against the military are civilians (yeah a number of said civilians could be ex-military of course) and Military members are still better trained to kill/incapacitate overall than an average gun owner.

@@Unreelme Full autos did not get restricted in the 1986 agreement. They were already subject to the NFA act of 1934. The only thing the 1986 deal did was to ban any new production of full autos for the civilian market. This did make the price skyrocket but what we go in return was vital and the NRA was looking far into the future. The major piece of legislation we got was that was making it illegal for the government to form and keep a gun database. That is a big deal and the full auto market was very small back then so it seemed to be a small give up at the time.

@joshuakang45075 жыл бұрын
Jay The Security Guy Mil-Spec also has to do with the material used, and yes Mil-Spec also is the dimensions of the product - a semiauto bcg without a full auto cutout isn’t Mil-Spec. The military specifically also asked for a cover and forward assist. And again, the material used is also part of a specification- obviously the m&p sport doesn’t use 7075 for their buffer tube since they won’t disclose what material they used (otherwise they would brag its 7075, since that’s a feature that is viewed as positive by prospective buyers)

As a Marine combat vet my perspective is a bit different. Just for the record I was also on the 1st Marine Division Rifle-Pistol Team and after leaving active duty I competed for a few years in USPSA/IPSC. I can see that you also appear to be a competition shooter; probably much better than me. Given my experience in both areas, I see combat and competition as significantly different. Although competition shooting, especially CQC multi-gun competition, is excellent training for combat, as a sport it becomes so specialized that it leaves the realm of what Jeff Cooper would call “practical shooting” and becomes divorced from the real combat world, especially regarding the equipment. This is OK and fun to watch and do but is about as useful in real combat as Call of Duty. For example, for real combat there are factors considered in design that don’t appear in competition shooting. Such as extended fire-fights in full auto. We haven’t seen this much since WW2, Korea, and Vietnam but human wave attacks will once again become a reality if we find ourselves at war with China; something that is increasingly likely. In this situation reliability is paramount. Thus heavy barrels and highly durable military grade triggers. I know that it’s popular among gun store commandos to hang stuff on their rifles; rails, long hand-guards, lights, lasers, etc. Not me. Why? Basically because that stuff is heavy and in combat, weight is an important factor. One of the combat advantages of the M-4/M-16 is light weight, which makes it easier to carry and faster to point and shoot. In combat, a fraction of a second difference in bringing your rifle on target can mean life or death. A buddy was point man. He rounded a sharp bend on a narrow trail and found himself face-to-face with a bad guy carrying an AK-47 at high port. My Buddy was carrying his M-16 on a sling pointing forward. They were like six feet apart. He said for a fraction of a second that seemed longer they just looked at each other. Then the bad guy began to lower his AK but my buddy’s M-16 was already pointed at him, so he simply pulled the trigger. Point being that the fraction of a second difference saved his life. Personally, I don’t want any of that stuff. Give me a good reliable optic like an ACOG and that’s it. That said, I like Magpul furniture, including their slings. It’s light weight, high quality, and functional. Your “Gucci gun” is cool and terrific for competition but if I was going into combat, I would take the military grade rifle every time, which brings me to my perspective … combat and sports shooting are significantly different things with different considerations and risks. They should be prepared for differently. Choose the right tool for the job, so to speak. BTW, I enjoy your videos. They are informative and generally well done. I’m a gnarly old guy with a lot of trigger time. The problem with this is that as we get older we tend to develop opinions and sometimes attitudes that get rigid and not open to new ideas. I try to avoid that. Still, it’s difficult to ignore painful first-hand experience like combat. It’s one of those things that takes you back to the basics. Theory fades to black and necessity reigns. You shed the frills and accept your mortality. Things get real. I want my gear simple, fast, and fatal. I like my razor sharp Ka-Bar, not a pearl handled gold plated stiletto. I like a Glock 23 with a Trijicon RMR2 6.5moa; no fiddling … pull and shoot with both eyes open … great CQC. I carry a light but don’t want it on my pistol or rifle. It adds weight and makes me a target. NVG works. The only thing I want hanging on my rifle barrel is a suppressor. I’ll take extra ammo instead. Noise canceling headphones with amplification and comms. This is the short list.

Military grade just means that it’s mediocre gun that’s gonna go bang when you pull trigger. The reason militaries don’t deck out their rifles is because most of it’s not really worth the extra cost. Your average grunt isn’t gonna be depending well time and well placed shots, most of combat for infantry nowadays is fire a few wounds towards where you think the enemy is or where you saw a brief muzzle flash and call in air support. Spending a extra $1000 on a slightly better gun isn’t gonna worth the trade off.
@jessezitting91534 жыл бұрын
You would be surprised how wrong that is. When the enemy is far away, yes. But when troops take contact, they don’t have air support just hovering over them like a helicopter mom.
@joshuarumsey23024 жыл бұрын
Not worth $1000 because they will call air support, delivered by a jet that costs $10,000 an hour to fly and dropping a $500,000 bomb. It ain’t the money, it that grunts break EVERYTHING in short periods of time and the simple gun has less to break

"It's very cool, Bateman, but..." He whips out his AR-15, laying it next to Bateman's on the table. Pink with a hello kitty motif centered and embossed in white, it is basically indistinguishable. "ArmaLite Model 15, with engraved lettering ‘H&R Firearms General Motors Hydramatic’ In Roman." Bateman smiles bitterly. "Nice." Now a third Ranger pulls out his AR-15. It looks exactly like the first two, except it reads “Precision Industries FN Herstal Bushmaster.” "Raised lettering, pale nimbus." "Impressive", Bateman mutters. "Let's see Paul Allen's." The room falls silent as the third Ranger produces the absent soldier’s M-4. Bateman speaks in voiceover. "Look at that subtle coloring. The tasteful thickness." His face creases in horror. "Oh my God. It even has a watermark."

This is half of why I hate the argument “but an AR15 and M4 are COMPLETELY different!” Not really. There’s an extra 1/8” hole in the M4 lower and a sear. That’s about the extent of the difference. There other half of why I hate it is because it tacitly admits that they think an M4 isn’t protected by the second amendment, when it is. In case anybody doesn't get it: Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller (June 26, 1898 - October 11, 1971) was a United States Marine Corps lieutenant general who, early in his military career, fought guerrillas in Haiti and Nicaragua in the 1920s and 1930s. In December 1928, Puller was assigned to the Nicaraguan National Guard detachment, where he was awarded his first Navy Cross for his actions from February 16 to August 19, 1930, when he led "five successive engagements against superior numbers of armed bandit forces." He returned stateside in July 1931 and completed the year-long Company Officers Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, thereafter returning to Nicaragua from September 20 to October 1, 1932, and was awarded a second Navy Cross. Puller led American Marines and Nicaraguan National Guardsmen into battle against Sandinista rebels in the last major engagement of the Sandino Rebellion near El Sauce on December 26, 1932. He later went on to serve with distinction in World War II and the Korean War. Puller is the most decorated Marine in American history. He is one of two U.S. servicemen awarded five Navy Crosses and one Army Distinguished Service Cross. Puller's five Crosses are next in number to the eight times Eddie Rickenbacker received the nation's second-highest military award for valor.

My buddy and I enlisted together, went to boot camp and School of Infantry together but I got out at the end of my contract and he stayed in with the intentions of doing a full 20 years and retiring. He made it to the rank of Gunny and decided that the Marine Corps today is not even recognizable as the Marine Corps we enlisted in so he finished his term and got out completely after 10 years and just pinning on Gunny. If you went in today it might not matter as much because you wouldn’t know the difference but those of us who served before all of the wokeness bled into the ranks wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll learn a lot and grow a lot as a person and there are significant benefits to serving but there is also a lot of crap that you’ll have to deal with. Every Marine will tell you, boot camp is the easiest thing you’ll ever do in the Marine Corps. Everybody thinks that this civilian rifle is just way better, that might be the case in these controlled drills but it will not be the same case in a warzone. military service rifles go through a magnitude of tests before they are selected to use, they go through torture tests, weather tests, reliability tests. That M4 will beat the shit out of that civilian rifle because it was made to be robust, hence the heavier barrel for example... That civilian rifle won't hold up as nicely in a long sustained firefight/battle than that M4 will because of what its purpose is, that civilian rifle was made to shoot on a range and not go through lakes, sand storms, -40C, get thrown around (literally), that M4 was made for a job and it is the rifle the US uses for a reason. So yes this civilian rifle is nice for ranges and what not but in a battle it would likely fail.

Great video. Folks should realize the the weapons that are standard issue to the troops are made to meet certain requirements, as detailed in the various military specifics. These requirements are developed to be "good enough" in terms of reliability, performance, accuracy etc. from the military program manager's perspective the added "gucci" stuff , higher grade triggers etc do not justify the increase cost for the standard issue weapon that gets delivered to tens of thousands troops. So the run of the mill standard issue weapon does a great job for what it is designed to do. Operators on the other hand may have different requirements. Manufacturers of weapons sold to civilians have a different motivation. Each looks to distinguish themselves in a more competitive environment. So that is why you see most weapons advertise as "Mil-Spec" which means while they meet the minimum requirements, they probably exceed those requirements in many different ways and add things not even mentions in the requirements. To me weapons are like tools. You pick the best tool for the need.

So So many people who have no idea what mil spec is just want to bash the Govt. Wonder how all your Gucci stuff would fare in real life. Covered inside and out in fine sand. spent several hours under water. Is filled with mud inside and out. Hasn't been cleaned in several weeks because of non stop fighting and still sending bullets out after 60,000 rounds. I'll put your range queen up against my full mil spec Colt (manufactured in 2013 before they started subbing out parts) any day and come out more accurate. Heck I'll even put up my Colt against a current FN actual mil spec, not one of their military clones. For that matter my new CR6920 even with all it's subbed out parts puts 30 rounds in a 3" group at 200 yds with only the mechanical sights it came with. I've run through 300 rounds on the CR in under 3 mins. and the barrel can still be held without burning my hand. bet your range queen can't do that !

@@gregwhite5369 Considering military dudes like Garand Thumb and friends prefer gucci rifles for duty, because they aren't infantry and can choose their own loadout. I'd still say the gucci is fine. Firearms gucci is designed for high durability. Stuff like the scopes he reviews on these channels are built to be tossed, thrown, dropped and hit with debris. The fancy triggers are more precise but also less likely to gunk up and durable. Gun people, except fuds and soccer moms, rarely buy stuff that doesn't either remind them of being in the service or work well under adverse conditions. Most of these companies are ran by veterans or former leos who also happen to be enthusiasts for guns themselves.
@gregwhite53692 жыл бұрын
@@MilesTraveler I guess you didn't read my several replies. First I don't like this video because he takes a "Clone" of an M4 and compares it to a high priced AR 15, and then bashes the M4. Sorry but that's crap. It's like bashing the Military Humvee by using a civilian Humvee in the video. If your going to bash the Military M4 then use a Military M4 in the vid. Second all these Gucci AR's don't actually meet Mil Spec. When they label guns or parts as Mil Spec all they really mean is that you can interchange the parts with other rifles calling them selves Mil Spec. But hey if you or anyone wants to buy or make a Cucci rifle more power to you. But I'm not going to trust my life when do do hits the rotating blade to any rifle other than my actual Colt Mil Spec made for LE M4A1

As long as my AR-15's are reliable, that is all I care about. I don't compare military and civilian rifles, a good functioning rifle is what matters. At 300m my groups were tight enough to fit in someone’s eye; and that was shooting off sandbags, boards, and backpacks. Mil spec triggers are better in combat.
