@@forbeswatson It was free to watch them march down Birdcage Walk to Horse Guards Parade and then up the Mall back to Wellington Barracks at the end of the parade (which is shown in this video), however the actual ceremony of Beating Retreat was a paid ticketed event which gave you a seat in the stands to watch it!

I wonder, I realize the police are there to do a job and an important one. But could we have them on these ceremonial occasions dress a little more formally like the bobbies of old who in their dress and demeanor looked the part of the "majesty of the law?"
