The wait time's for Coast Guard A school can be LONG. I interview my friend Hadi where he explains that he is able to go to Bahrain and skip the whole line for AMT A school by only having to serve overseas for less than a year.

What’s up man, love the videos they really are helping me with my process in joining the CG. Have a few questions regarding Bahrain that wasn’t clarified. 1: Is it 100% guaranteed that u will jump the list completely and get right into A school back from your year deployment in Bahrain. 2: Will the year deployment to Bahrain also help with getting the district or station u want, that u put on ur dream sheet after A school. Appreciate u man!

8:26 Not a good look kid... Not a good look... As a BM in the Coast Guard... Yes we did deck work.... And small boat operations. L.E., tie down crew, Navigation, no keep of safety supplies and equipment, R.A.S. replenishment at sea & F.A.S fueling at sea, Boarding team, designated rescue swimmer.... ECT BMs are the JACK OF ALL TRADES....

Relax. He was joking. Its a joke around the CG that BMs don't do anything, unlike the engineering side. Again, it was a JOKE.

The mission in PATFORSWA isn’t going anywhere. The CG has slated two FRC hulls to be home ported in Bahrain. I had a great experience when I was there, it fast forwarded my career easily three to four years. Got an XPO 87’ job in FL leaving there.

Military Journeymen that’s great! Im only 17 but I’ve looked into it a lot recently and I want to go in and do the law enforcement side of everything and I’d love to go to a ME school but like u said in the video it’s such a long waiting list and it’s crazy. I don’t wanna do more then 4 years I wanna go into law enforcement afterwards and try to overtime get into some agency(DEA, ATF, FBI)..love your vids really been helping out recently

You don't have to get qualified as a non-rate in order to put your name on an A-school list.

would you clarify this for me Julian: If the ME list is currently closed and I get out of bootcamp and I'm a non-rate, and want to Go ME, If I sign up for PATFORSWA as a non-rate can I go ME after that tour?

Ask long as you put your name on the list first and if it’s closed you have to wait till its open to put your name on it

So, the “A” school you want to go to has to be open to put your name on the list and go to Bahrain. Are you still able to do PATFORSWA and wait for the “A” school list to open?

Is there a possibility to go to Bahrain right after boot camp, I mean doing that whole process right after the bootcamp? I speak Arabic and I can understand nearly all their accents, does that help at all?

What kind of cutter would you recommend for someone looking into going AMT?

While a black hull would be a good experience, you will get zero experience with aviation. White hulls 210' and up have AVDETs where you can talk with the aviators or work on the flight deck. Air Stations would also be good units for experience with aviation.

Nick Fletcher. Different qualifications for different places. For instance cutters have different qualifications than small boat stations. ( I am stationed at a small boat station)

When/How do you choose "A" schools? Is it before, during, after bootcamp?

There are boot to A contracts for mission critical ratings (OS and CS), where you can go to A school out of boot camp. Talk with your recruiter about that. Otherwise, you must be out of boot camp for four months before you can route a request chit through your chain of command and get your name on a list (so long as you meet the standards for that rating).

If you put yourself on a list for a certain job is it almost guaranteed that you will get that job even though it may have a long wait?
