No that situation is only a case at some of the larger "factory farms" that the staff have not been properly trained and all of the small family farms love their cows and they are how they make their living and they do their best to give their cows the best possible lives possible.

It's not so nice. Listen to the audio. They are confined and milked for 6 years. The babies are taken away. The cows are in pain so they go to a milking station. They are tagged and monitored. Don't believe they are going outside. They never show that.
@annewilder22208 жыл бұрын
Nyda S They ARE isolated. They are not "cared for" Did you see any of these cows outside? Find out what happens to the baby cows. You sound like a well meaning person. Do your homework. This is what's called by the media a "fluff" piece.
@joshj26148 жыл бұрын
Anne Wilder These cows are only "isolated" as they are being milked with robots and other means of milking cows keep then outside as it is unnecessary to keep then inside, as the farmer goes and gets them in. so conventional methods of milking are best for the cow as they are free to roam the lush green pastures for most of the year but when it is too cold or the ground is too wet they are bought in and they are kept in for the shortest amount of time possible as it is more expensive to keep cows in as you need to feed them more.To finish this is what is called an educational video and you need to do you homework and find out about the dairy industry. (Don't just search " Bad Farm Peta " and believe that is what all farms are like, as they are a rare sight in the UK as we have something called the animal welfare act that make animal cruelty illegal

+Anna Pinx That is a CAFO! Did you see the cows at the feed rail eating? Did you notice the freestalls that the cows were laying in? Maybe you have never been to a large scale dairy, so you just don't know. Maybe you are an "animal rights activist." Maybe you think that poor people don't deserve the affordable source of of protein and fat that milk provides. Dairy farmers whom operate large-scale farms are feeding the world. The cows are treated like queens. If workers harm the animals, they produce less milk. If workers stress the animals out, they produce less milk. The dairy in the video is using Lely robots to milk the cows, and the high producers will milk 3x per day. Low producers will be culled. Maybe before you put your opinion online about "harmful CAFO's," you should educate yourself with more than a few PETA articles and bullshit activists forums!

I've studied Environmental Science before. You just said it yoursef, that it was my opinion, so let my opinion be, and calm down. My opinion doesn't need to be right. If you think I'm wrong, ok. But what gives you the right to conclude Im an activist and that i read PETA articles and bullshit. I'm not an activist. Also, you clearly have not seen footage from hidden cameras in large animal coorporations, such as KFC. But that's okay. Watch the documentary Food Inc. Cows don't need to be treated like queens in order to produce more milk. All the farmers need to do is inject them hormones to make them so much bigger that they can't support their own weight. You think farmers don't harm animals? Cool. I think they do. So? We think differently. So? Don't tell me to educate myself. We all think differently. I never message back on youtube but your comment stood out. Don't go assuming what people are and telling them to educate themselves.

+Anna Pinx +Anna Pinx Have you EVER visited a dairy? Do you know how much research has gone into cow comfort and increased production? Cornell University, Kansas State, Texas A&M, University of Wisconsin, Perdue, etc etc have people who conduct RESEARCH! It's not a fucking environmental science class taught by some liberal blow hard with a fucking agenda. Just like there are shit heads in every group...cops, military (I was a Marine and can attest), college professors, doctors, lawyers...we can find examples of terrible people in every walk of life. Yes, there are some shitty humans who work on dairy farms and they do gross awful things. They are the exceptions, and not the rule. As time goes on, those farms with bad practices will fail. Stressed cows make less milk. They need to eat the same amount. They have to drink the same amount of water. It costs the same to produce less milk. You can't just just inject more hormones and the cows magically produce more milk!!!

@MrCroweBar10 жыл бұрын
Canada.. We sell it by Litres.. According to the details in the Video Milk is a lucrative business and having these machines produce more and better milk. So yes they would still be in business. The value of the cows would be way way over the cost of these machines and there is no humans they have to pay to stand there (24 hours a day) and attach the suctions because the machine does it without breaks.. Its like a restaurant kitchen, you spend 1/2 million on equipment but you make millions of dollars using that equipment cooking the food and selling it to your guest.

MrCroweBar And on top of that, the equipment retains a reasonable amount of value. Buy equipment for a few million, use it for maybe 40 years saving money from workers, then sell the factory to someone else. The factory will have a higher value due to the equipment, getting you the money you spent back, plus extra in the wallet due to saving money from paying workers. Also getting shareholders a higher dividend and share value if it's owned by a corporation.

Sounds so peaceful " the babies are raised separately." Reality - their babies are ripped away / taken away from them with the mother battling to keep the baby from being taken and later grieving, all to make her keep producing. But this more peaceful version is easier to swallow. At least the cows are treated with respect. Happy cows can produce up to 3 times as much milk than not so happy cows.

Whats sad is that this isn't really how its done. Most of the time, factories aren't nearly as clean and humane as this (like this is humane). At 1:32, this shows how much water is wasted on unneeded innocent cows. And if you didn't pick up at 1:39, this means when the cow is 15months old when its first forced to have a calf. After that they have another 5 pregnancies until they are worn out and die and used for meat. Keep in mind that the natural life span of a cow is 20-25 years. In slaughterhouses they die at 12-18months. Back to the topic, the calf that is taken away after pregnancy is most likely used for veal at 16 WEEKS OLD. Theres some cold hard facts for you guys.
