Meeting a white guy from that lifestyle is a deeper lense into the LA street culture for him. Milk being a white guy, you can see how Adam can sort of relate to him somehow and make sense of the gang culture and his place within that culture. Obviously Adam isn’t in a gang but he is in the rap culture which is predominantly black and Milk is also the minority in the gang stuff so it’s parallel.
