Funny thing about the tennis elbow test from a patient's perspective. If the patient has it, their response won't be subtle. I hissed loudly in pain. Two years post-injury and I still have symptoms.

My physician gave me a diagnosis after I described the symptoms to him. He didn't touch my arm or ask me to move it. Actually, he didn't really ask any questions. He just prescribed Meloxicam. I don't know why I would get tennis elbow because I don't play sports, and I haven't experienced any injuries that would cause it. I'm 40 and am sedentary most of the time. Could my pain have been caused by a lack of exercise? I asked my doctor whether he thinks I have arthritis, and he said no. I wanted to ask more questions, but he was in a hurry to leave and end my appointment.
@henrydickerson97765 ай бұрын
@@dualscreengrant Meloxicam is an NSAID, same class as aspirin and ibuprofen, so it's a safe bet for most people for inflammation. I got mine from slinging cases of water one-handed like an idiot. That said, he should have examined you.

@@dualscreengrant Go see another doctor if you havent already. And you can get Tennis elbow even if you don't play sports, it's just a name to make it easier to distinguish between lateral and medial epicondylitis.

Thanks for the video! Please clarify - I thought that with lateral epicondylitis, the patient should have pain with supination and extension of the wrist. Thanks!
@Physiotutors4 жыл бұрын
Agree, don't think we state something different in the video, do we?
@Sonny000103 жыл бұрын
Supination and extension of the wrist would be stretching the flexors which relates to medial epicondylitis, this video is wrist flexion and pronation of hand to stretch arm extensors which relates to lateral epicondylitis
@lordkael16017 жыл бұрын
can we also like passively supinate , extend wrist, extend elbow? from an elbow flexion 90deg, pronated arm and closed fist
@Physiotutors7 жыл бұрын
Hey Clyde, the goal for this test is to maximally lengthen the extensor carpi radialis longus+brevis, so you would always need maximal pronation, wrist flexion and elbow extension and possibly a bit of ulnar deviation. Which way you build it up does not matter too much, this is just how it was described by Mills.

+Nene Cuty If we don´t mention any recent articles in the intro of a video, we always refer to 'Magee - Orthopedic Assessment'. You could potentially do this test in sitting as well, might be inconvenient though to extend the elbow!

what about radial deviation?
@Physiotutors8 жыл бұрын
+Eliyah Rosenbluh Hey Eliyah, according to Magee, no deviation movement is described for this test. In order to stress the extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis even more, you would have to perform additional ulnar deviation though, because you try to provoke these muscles through stretch.
