Pulling oil seals is so much easier with a proper hook screwdriver

I use a sealant made by renault for the 16v cam cover its a thin resin sealant. 👍👍 i use it on all none gasket surfaces and stuff where you have to remove lots of bits to fix the leak 😄😄

Brilliant content as usual👍great to see a some love for the much maligned automatic A series when in fact if maintained properly and driven properly is everybit as reliable as the manual. 👍

I really appreciate your clean approach (non mess). While watching the flimsy gasket being slid on, I wondered if it might be safer to progressively press the gasket down with a deep socket or 6-8mm diameter pipe? Just curious if you had any thoughts as you have the hands on experience.
@classicminiworkshop
@classicminiworkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matthew, yes probably would have been easier with some pipe. I had to walk it down really carefully as it was an exact fit around the studs

Is there a bronze guide bush like the manual transmissions that wear out or only the outer seals?

Hi I know the video is a few years old now but I have a question. Do you know if this can be done with the engine still in the car? I have a slight leak on the differential casing seal

Great video and the engine looks superb! One tip I saw on a video of a guy rebuilding an E type engine he used blue hylomar. hylomar.com/en/universal-blue/ as apparently, as it doesn’t set, it can’t contaminate oilways etc.
@classicminiworkshop
@classicminiworkshop 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I've used Blue Hylomar before, infact I have a couple of tubes. It's pretty good stuff
