Since I’m not a liquor drinker like that, although I could tell the difference between them by taste and smell if I tasted them on their own, they really were basically the same to me and my friends/sorority sisters. “White liquor”. Gin was just a stronger tasting vodka according to my taste buds. My standards for drinking back in college was to order wine, wine coolers and drinks that were fruity enough so I couldn’t really taste the alcohol…until I was buzzed or drunk enough to not care. After that it was “let the shots begin”!

I remember my first experience with four loko... watermelon, when they still had the caffeine in them $1.25 each I bought 4, I had just got dumped by my daughters mom a few weeks before so I was drinking a lot those days. I chugged the first one(I had already had a few tall boys throughout the day schlitz high gravity) and the second one I kinda just drank but at some point I was shitfaced, so I get to the 3rd one crack it open and chug like 1/3 of it, next thing I know im waking up with my face on the mat I wipe my shoes on when I got in my house with my foot outside pinched between the door like someone tried to close it on me... I drank them every day after that for about a month smh. Sober since 2015 now though and don't miss it at all..

In reality, I included every liquor that was brought to the party, light & dark, and balanced it with just enough juice & to balance out the flavors. I did not discover Hennessey until my mid-20's. Growing up in a Mexican household, all I really knew about was tequila. Once Henny came into my life, I was in brown liquor heaven. Nobody was drinking “4 Loko” or “Juicce” in the 90’s, that was a mid 00’s when all the energy drinks blew up. “4 Loko” was banned originally because of the high Caffeine and “energy” blends that can cause a heart attack. Hypnotic didn’t even come out until 01’ when I graduated i clearly remember that.

I was in the clubs in the 90’s and the only drink that they showed that I remember being popular was the gin & juice (screwdriver). There were other popular drinks that went hard back then though: Sex on the beach: Sloe gin fizz, amaretto sour, hurricane, vodka & cran, (or vodka and another juice), hell we just drank our liquor straight up or on the rocks sometimes. We were mixing no Red Bulls/ energy drinks.

@@CheapsKate77 Yes. You are right. And back then, I had screwdrivers and Cape Codders. But I also drank gin & juice (mostly gin w/grapefruit juice as that is how my Gram drank it and that it how I learned to like it. But sometimes with orange juice.). But now I cannot stand most gin-led drinks.
