the wheel that andrew remembers and pointed out from the coffee episode is actually a Taster's Flavor Wheel, it isn't exactly a cheat sheet for roasting but a guide for describing the body and flavor notes when tasting coffee. it's tool used by roasters, baristas, and enthusiasts alike to help describe coffee in a similar language. it's cool that he noticed it and appreciated it, would be really neat to see the Worth It boys do a full cupping (tasting) session some day

One thing you don’t need to go to Japan for is good coffee! Any one of those “hipster” coffee shops you see popping up are doing the same things, paying close attention to the (very scientific) roasting process, judging aroma and flavor for tasting notes, and performing quantitative analysis. Andrew was right, at the shop I used to work at I had to do weekly checks of the strength of all the brewed coffees using a spectrometer. Google “SCAA flavor wheel” to see in full what you catch a glimpse of in that video. Ok my rant is over, I’m just very passionate about coffee and love to turn people onto the world of specialty coffee
