Mr Miller, As a complete novice, I was able to set up my home network in a few hours, following your incredibly informative and easy to follow set up tutorial video. THANK YOU !!! My Network: - UDM-SE - Unifi Network Pro 48 PoE switch - (5) U6 -Long Rang WiFi access points - Cameras and door bell to follow I was able to set up a super fast, secure access point WiFi network through my home and yard. I am extra grateful for the concise explanation you provided on creating additional networks, rules & permissions, and security measures. None of which is explained in simple layman's terms at Ubiquity or anywhere else for that matter. I hope you continue to do additional videos on best practices/ maintenance/ advanced user tips and tricks for us novices, especially as firmware updates and features evolve. Again, thank you.

This guy is great, explains things simply and when he uses an acronym, he actually explains rather than me going onto Google and finding out POE means Path of Exile, Don’t know how a computer game refers to cables, but at least this guy explains it’s actually Power Over Ethernet

Dude I absolutely love your videos! They are so informative and easy to follow and understand. Good to have a fellow geek such as yourself make and provide these videos, to not only display the latest network technology, but to also consider practical network and security configurations to implement. I will be upgrading our Wi-Fi network at church and have learned a lot regarding Unifi/Ubiquity from your videos. Kudos and thanks!

Thank you for the update UniFi. Something you can add to this is using special characters or spaces in your Wi-Fi name/SSID or password can create issues with certain devices for some reason. I guess older technology or what not. Hopefully that saves somebody to extra stress.

Hi great video!! I've followed your guide but I'm struggling with main network - iot network communication! This is what I did: 1) I've enabled Multicas DNS on both main network and IoT network 2) I've created the two exact firewall rules discussed in your videos: - RULE 1: drop LAN in (all) -> from main network -> to iot network - RULE 2: drop LAN in (all) -> from iot network > to mail network. As soon as I disable those two rules, everything works; as soon as I turn on those two rules I can't reach my printers and chromecasts. I tried the following configuration, but I'm a noob, so I don't know if it's ok or not: - RULE 0: new rule: allow established and related: accept LAN in (all) -> match state established + match state related - RULE 1: eliminated (the rule was: drop LAN in (all) -> from main network -> to iot network) - RULE 2: same as before: drop LAN in (all) -> from iot network > to mail network Please, somebody can help me? Is my configuration correct? Thank you very much! My configuration: - dream router as controller; - three old UAP-LR

After watching countless videos on guides and tips for networking, this is by far the most informative when it comes to things about Ubiquiti WiFi setups. Starting a big new network from scratch, I was doubtful as to if I should be using Ubiquiti products. They make respectable and popular products but I had many doubts about them which initially made me want to go with some of the other manufacturers for networking gear but this video literally cleared so many of those doubts. I'll be confident with going with Ubiquiti now. This is my first time on this channel so I don't know much about it but I've to say, you're a lifesaver, dude! Keep up the good work and good luck!

UDM SE and Pro should not be used in production environment where clients are consistently using Microsoft Teams and Zoom. There are tons of problems, UDMs cannot handle, consistent, voice packets. Microsoft teams and zoom sessions will drop. Adjusting smart queues on 300M+ is recommended to troubleshoot but worthless.

Hey Jack - I love your videos. They are always very informative. I have a couple of questions. I noticed you didn't create an SSID for the Camera's. Are you just using the IoT SSID for the Camera network? You also showed us how to create 5 rules. You have 7 showing on the screen? Block lan from cameras and Block IoT from cameras was missing. I assume it's pretty much simlar to how we created the other rules? Love your stuff! Appreicate yah!
