If Ken is trying to spawn, that would make sense, since it is the male bass that create the beds for the females. Females come along & spawn & then they leave while the male tends to the eggs until after they hatch. Cool video. Subbing to both channels.

You the man dude. Much respect. My buddy and I tried to save a landlocked Pike last weekend due to the flooded river water going down he got stuck but we couldn't catch him. We we're casting from like 10 yards away on shore and he still spooked off every time. :( Poor guy.

Smallies like rocky bottom due to them feeding on crayfish , insects and small fish from the rocks that’s probably why the small mouth moved the sand away from the rocks

I did similar with a 50 gal tank when I was a kid. Made a little bait trap and set it in a creed down the street from the house. Even kept a blue crawfish for a while. I may have to start it up again because I remember it was a lot of fun.

So let me get this right: you rescued a 17” fish from a body of flowing water 2 feet deep, 10 feet wide and 30 feet long (at least that one hole) so you could put him in a 4’x4’x18” tub of aerated water??? You’re a real hero

Was just fishing a creek even smaller than this the other day trying for trout and pulled a 20 inch smallmouth out of a tiny, shallow section that was maybe 3 feet wide and maybe a foot deep...cool catching something unexpected like that!

Little strategy you could use, use a size two hook with no weight and very little worm on it
