I noticed the minimum speed on those dewalts are 16,000 RPM, so I have to ask because I have one of these mega Vs in shop. What feed rate are you using and are there 2 flutes on that bit? Just curious, thanks.

Nice video...I just started playing with my millright mega v xxl....what bit did you use....and is there specific bits for aluminum (metal) or is this the bit that cam with the unit

Just curious instead of plunging into the material can you set it up so you enter the stock from the side?

I'm still a noob when it comes to fusion 360 but I think that is an option. My design skills and toolpath skills need improving!

Thx for sharing. Good to know that the Mega V can indeed mill aluminum. Might be good to shorten how much of the bit sticks out of the collet to reduce deflection and use ramp entry to reduce the risk of chipping the bit. Did you use masking tape and super glue to hold the piece on the waste board?

I inserted the bit as far as I could before it started getting into the flutes of the bit, I need shorter "0" flute bits for sure! Ramping in will definitely be something I pay attention to in the future! Tape and glue was the hold down method here and it seemed to work really well even with this aluminum piece! I got mine put together but won’t move. Motors are locked up and holding. I have the plasma version so the next thing I’ll try is to hook up the serial port attachment. It’s frustrating to learn a new machine with no instructions!

Jeff Verdin believe me I’m subscribed to them both! It’s hard for me to get time to dig into them working full time with overtime, so it’s usually just weekends. I’ve noticed there isn’t allot of plasma versions though

The bit did great! Like I said, it's the bit that came with the machine and so far it's the only bit beside my tapered bit that I've used!

Thanks for watching! As far as I can tell its keeps very tight tolerances. For most of what I've been doing with it, super tight tolerances aren't critical but its nice nonetheless. The machine is very rigid and uses pretty thick extrusion.
