In a last ditch effort to save his career as a sports agent, JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) concocts a scheme to find baseball's next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turninto a Major League Baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a realityshow competition called "Million Dollar Arm." With the help of a cantankerous but eagle-eyed retired baseball scout (Alan Arkin) he discovers Dinesh (played by Madhur Mittal from "Slumdog Millionaire") and Rinku (played by Suraj Sharma from "Life of Pi"), two 18 year old boys who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. Hoping to sign them to major league contracts and make a quick buck, JB brings the boys home toAmerica to train. While the Americans are definitely out of their element in India - the boys, who have never left their rural villages - are equally challenged when they come to the States. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball - JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda (Lake Bell) - learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.
Directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay written by Tom McCarthy, Walt Disney Pictures' drama "Million Dollar Arm" stars Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Suraj Sharma, Lake Bell, Madhur Mittal, Pitobash and Alan Arkin. The producers are Mark Ciardi, Gordon Gray and Joe Roth. The executive producers are Palak Patel, Kevin Hollaran,Bill Simmons and Connor Schell. The film will be release in the United States on May 16, 2014.

Most of India lives in the rural and villages so not sure what was negative representation? Not sure why Indians mind when their cities are shown as dirty, crowded, unhygienic, polluted etc... Well that's the reality of majority of India. Its a third world country

American producers as always showing other countries like crap, India is so beautiful to show it this way. The guys look so ignorant when getting into the elevator like if they don't have elevators in India. India looks poor and misrepresented here, and of course the US with good beautiful looking city views, smart and nice dressed, always showing THE CITY side of America and always showing the villages and rural areas of other countries. WHY IS IT THIS WAY ALL THE TIME?, this kills the image of other countries.

Did you know this movie most likely originated in the halls of Rice University in Houston, TX. Someone wanted me to go to an Astros game really really badly. I followed the signs and went to 4 Astros games with the last being a playoff game. Before the game I followed the signs and walked up all the bleachers and touched the nearest high beam...later the Astros somehow had the magic to win the world series in 2017.

I am familiar with this story because of Tom House's book, "Arm Action, Arm Path, and the Perfect Pitch: Building a Million Dollar Arm." Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel won a reality TV show called Million Dollar and were trained by Tom House at RDRBI(A research driven baseball institute) at USC. Both were signed by J.B. Bernstein and later signed to minor league deals by the Pirates. Great Story.
