I absolutely understand you. i just don't get it when ppl say the author has romanticised abuse in the book........ i do not agree personally. If anyone's been in a toxic nd abusive relationship....they know how hard it is to break the pattern nd leave it all behind. Its a terrible vicious cycle..... the person says sorry, u keep giving them chances and change never happens. And it gets extremely hard to come out of it. But when you do fix ur mind to come out..... You never look back. I personally feel.... Hoover has done a beautiful job portraying the minds of both...Abuser as well as The Receiver. So only ppl who have been in such relationships....wud get the book, the characters better. Otherwise ppl will just keep on nagging how the story is shitty n all. And yes! Lilly and Atlas deserves the world together!!! 💗🌷

All you saying the actor Brandon Skelnar who plays Atlas isn't hot...watch him in Taylor Sheridan's 1923 show...their scenes are giving "Out of Africa" vibes which had the yummy Robert Redford in it. Good Lord 🔥😍🔥 is that man fine, rugged, and one EXTREMELY manly, hunky glass of water. He plays a big game hunter after he got PTSD in WWI where he was originally from Montana at his multi-generational family ranch...yYellowstone. Instant hot chemistry with the girl, whose character is English aristocracy and is a Countess, who plays his love interest/wife. Google Spencer and Alex -1923. Blake is way too old to be playing a 24 year old. Come on, honey, who did you think you were fooling; it's like SJP in the horrifically trash SATC movies . She needs to accept she's way past the ingenue just like Anne Hathaway, Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, etc. They need to realize that while 38-45 isn't old at all, especially with the TONS of plastic surgery from head to toe in addition to all the cosmetic procedures for (just alone) skin--all different lasers and tightening devices, special facials, peels, microderm, Botox, fillers, Ozempic, teeth/veneers, hair, along with the trainers and chefs and glam squads(--Blake has has a crazy amount of work done like upper & lower blepharoplasty, brow lift, nose jobs, boob jobs, chin, cheekbones, buccal fat), it's Hollyweird's beauty and ageism standards. Don't know much about the actor who plays Ryle but he is gorgeous with an incredible body.

Im quite disgusted by the negative comments and criticism of the film. It takes a lot to write a book in such depth of domestic violence. Let alone the movie, in which was absolutely powerful. Having once been in a domestic violence situation, that nearly ended my life--- the violence doesn't start with violence. It's an escalating pattern that eventually shatters the cage of the monster of a person you thought you knew. This movie had me choking back tears. Because it was so beautifully compiled together, regardless of the controversy. I too had a friend, who rescued me and picked me up one day, I was black and blue and he took me in. Id buy every book and nail polish and whatever Colleen Hoover wants to write or produce. I'm definitely buying the movie. I hope that the author, the producers, the actors and actresses and all those apart of this are not discouraged. Beauty rises from ashes. This movie displays a glimpse of what I went through and it's not glorified by all means. Everyone needs to back up. My arms are sketched with roses and flowers and sayings, that cover scars from clinging to what I thought was my last breath. Til you've been through it, sit down, be humble.

I don't understand why people are being so negative about the character choices. Each one of us has a different picture of Lily, Ryle and Atlas based on our imagination. What's important is that they are telling this beautiful story and the emotions that these actors are showing are true. I feel this movie will live up to it's expectation based on the trailer. And frankly, I am glad they chose more mature actors than people in their 20s for example. These actors are able to show the rawness of the emotions because they chose really good actors to play the parts. I'm super excited for this one!!

@zahra2k2 echoing your thoughts! I am not a big fan of romantic movies but I don't understand what people are complaining about here? Just because the new world defines feminism in particular ways now, all of a sudden people want to decide how it is defined in stories.. As long as something like DV is not glorified, and the actors are doing a fine job, whats with the complaints!? The intensity at which each person defines their tragedies and responds to it would be different. Even a director's/author's vision for a character would be different. Why do people want to fit every woman character into some sort of feminist mould defined by new-age thinking.. Let people be people, characters be characters.. Diversity in personalities is so much more empowering than being string puppets!!!

Based on this trailer idk what all the fuss and negativity surrounding the movie was all about. Presumably, it was all swirling around before the new lawsuit between the co-stars. I wonder what everyone was so up in arms about ?! 🤷🏼♀️

Too bad the main character does not care in real time about abuse and just wants to profit off her hair care and clothes very shallow wow

I’m going to be crying in the theater while watching just because it’s going to bring back all of the emotions this book brought me!😭🫶🏻

Anyone who faces similar situations in real life knows that this is not how this ends. no one has a backup guy/savior. its mindboggling how many people drink up this toxic story.

I despise any story where a woman is saved only because of the fortuitous introduction of a male savior. ESPECIALLY a romantic male savior.

It’s not real life though, it’s entertainment. There are a lot of us who aren’t feminists. Just regular people who enjoy a good story that includes a male hero. At this point everybody and their mother knows this story includes DV, so if you’re the kind of person who gets “triggered”, you can chose to not watch the film. I’ve personally experienced a lot of trauma, but I don’t get “triggered” by media and entertainment. You can’t lump all trauma survivors together, people have different reactions and different ways to cope. Personally, I enjoy this kind of “toxic” story. Again, it’s ENTERTAINMENT. I’d rather watch a story with a compelling male hero than one with a “strong independent woman who don’t need no man”…that’s just my personal preference. 🤷🏼♀️

Surely you mean to say you ‘despise Colleen Hoover’s writing - otherwise Colleen Hoover needs to contact the police

Just gonna say it!!!! As much as Ryle was, Lily was equally a Red Flag. She was Mentally and emotionally abusive to their relationship.

How crazy - has someone else heard Justin Baldoni say 'sorry' more than once in "public"?

I read this book in Turkish a few years ago. The actors don't give off the vibe of the characters. Especially Ryle and Atlas. The actress chosen for the role of Lily looks a bit suitable because of her red hair. I don't know why, but this movie seems completely different from the book.

Anyone else sick of seeing this triggering trailer 30 times while they are watching other videos. I rather not see a woman get hit every 2 minutes when an add comes through.

You don’t actually see her get hit

I just finished it. It could have been a good film. It wasn’t horrible. I just feel that the acting was wooden and formulaic. I felt that the subject matter was sugar coated. This should be playing on the Hallmark channel. Blake should get some acting tips from her contemporaries like Scarlett Johansson (well, I guess not her), Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie.

Paul Feig compensation. Kendrick got hers too - simultaneously it seems.. You'd think these industry issues would be dealt with more subtlety.
