The mother didn’t “win” a million dollars (like some of the comments here are saying). She received this as COMPENSATION for what was apparently a very serious injury/accident (this was even confirmed by the daughter). A payment designed to cover any loss of income (until retirement age) and related medical bills (for the rest of her life). Therefore the mum is under NO OBLIGATION to be sharing/giving away her compensation money amongst family. She didn’t win lotto.

We have 2 liars here. Yes she asked her mother for the loan but didn’t expect to pay it back because her mom isn’t hurting for it. The mother helped her but ran the list of expenses just up over the $5,000 limit the court can reimburse. The defendant was shocked by the amount and alleged expenses. Mom is trying to get a payday off of JJ. So it seems she taught her daughter this behavior. Two peas in a pod.
@Sophine Жыл бұрын
I got one sentence to comment on... Even if she isn't hurting for it doesn't mean you don't pay the loan back. I have a friend that I loaned $134 to twenty years ago. Haven't gotten it back, and I'm not hurting for it. I have also never given her another loan because I know if she can't be responsible enough to pay me back with that amount, I'd never trust her with more. Has she asked me more times, yes, does she need it, yes, will she ever get it from me, absolutely not. I can ask any family member of mine for 10k right now because they know they will get it back in a year max paying it in installments.
@jeffnak5598 Жыл бұрын
@Sophine That's the same lesson I was taught from my dad. It's ok to help a friend out, but write that money off and consider it a one time thing, never to happen again. The only time you do it again is if you see that money come back around, then you know they're good for it and can continue to help when needed.
@peacefreedom4930 Жыл бұрын
@@Sophine I definitely agree with you. However I think the reason the daughter doesn’t want to repay the loan is because she seems to have the mentality that her mom got a big payday so she should also benefit. They are both opportunistic. So I really don’t care how JJ rules.

She assumed her mother was going to let her slide with paying because she got a million-dollar lump sum of money, but everybody doesn't feel the same way about money. She started asking her mother for money soon after she they paid out. First of all, 1 million dollars is not a lot of money and can easily be spent up if you spend frivolously, or let other people come in and start excessively spending your money. No matter how much you give it will never be enough because people like that will stop talking to you as soon as you cut them off. She's young enough to work and make her own money. I'm happy her mother stood up for herself before she winds up in the poor house.

Kids expecting money from parents is problematic. But this is how families are. Sad

Mom is greedy. Should have given all her kids $50K and told them to leave her alone.

Mom doesn't need to give her kids crap. This money is for an injury and long term, probably permanent job loss.

Parents suing their children, children suing their parents, just messy. Whatever happened to the day when you’d just take a bat to someone’s kneecaps 😅

If I win 1 million dollars I would gladly give money to my kids with no problem and not ask for it back this lady is crazy

I would next expect my children to pay me back. I brought them into this world and will continue to take care of them if I can until I die. This mother is despicable.

If my mom came into that kind of money there's no doubt that she would help me. If I came in to that kind of money I would definitely help my son get out of debt and I sure in the hell wouldn't take them to court to try to sue them for less than 5k.

Wonder how much of the settlement she actually got minus lawyer fees, medical bills etc

I get it! As a parent my daughter is 25 and very proud so she does NOT ask myself or her father for NOTHING for one because she does not need to since we’ve taught her to be financially responsible and two she doesn’t look at us as a means to an end and that is why I do for her without thinking twice because she doesn’t take acts of kindness as someone has to do anything for her! This lady was making it before her mom got that settlement and thought she was going to be able to nickel and dime! Sometimes it ant about it being your child sometimes it’s about the nature of that person and how they choose to conduct themselves that makes folks not want to help them! I don’t know them personally but I know that if you been eating, driving, lights haven’t been turned off etc. and all of of sudden you know I have money so now you got 10 thousand dollars worth of problems in one month I am NOT fooling with you! It just smells like user vibes period! Just because she is her mom doesn’t give her access to her money no matter how much she has! I just told my own mom about this with some money she was receiving! She called me to tell me she wanted to do something nice for me since I am always there and I quickly told her for starters don’t go running around telling everybody your business including family and then told her I would not take anything from her because I am good and at her age she needs to be able to live off her own money! Not every situation is a darn lottery!

Calling her mother crazy after her mother loaned her money. Nice daughter. The daughter isn't right to call her mother anything but kind and to repay her.

This is why you should keep your mouth shut if you get a settlement. Relatives and so-called friends, who were doing fine until now, suddenly can't make ends meet and need your money to stay afloat.

this daughter wants a free ride off her mother. Mother needs to get as far away from her daughter as possible. She needs to watch her back. I wouldn't trust that daughter to save my life

So you know someone keeps asking you for money because they cant afford their own bills and you keep giving them money expecting them to pay you back?? How if they cant even pay their bills (car, rent, groceries, etc)
