Another in a series of your informative and interesting conversations. Without knowing who you'll have a chance to talk with when you get to a track, I have often wondered how you are able to possess all the background information that you have at your fingertips when you talk to someone. It was nice of Kyle Larson to acknowledge his part in the wreck with Cale Thomas. I would guess that it's more likely that Kyle came to Cale's pit rather than Cale going to confront Kyle.

Thanks...yep...Kyle went to Cale's pit to have the conversation. Lots of mutual respect between them. I've often wondered if I should prep more for these events...or maybe it would take some of the fun out of it. You're the best! HMM

I've been going to Millstream since the 1970s, and I've never seen that many people there, not even for a World of Outlaws event.

Thanks for this video. So nice to see Millstream pack them in for their first race after reopening. Very happy for the Cogley's, hope this leads to more races on the schedule next year. Not sure if a track reopened around here that would happen, although sprint cars (especially 410's) always draw a good crowd. You might know better than me, but I think rural areas have a higher % of race fans and probably less entertainment choices in general so that might help. Cool to learn more about Cale Thomas as well. Also a bit surprised that neither him or nor Danny Sams III included Sammy in their top 3 winged sprint car drivers of all time, but good choices none-the-less.
@HistoryMysteryMan6 ай бұрын
Maybe I should ask for the top-5? Sammy certainly deserves to be on that list. So many great choices. Thanks again, Gregg...wish I could get more people to watch.

It is tough to rank drivers (or even athletes in general) sometimes raw talent and long-term success are mutually exclusive. I also wonder if Doug Wolfgang didn't suffer the burns and later broken neck how many more wins and championships he would. Steve and Sammy both were regular winners for another 15 years or so after Wolfgang got hurt.
@HistoryMysteryMan6 ай бұрын
@@greggrauscher34 True...but even when Wolfgang was there, Kinser continually beat him, as did Sammy by a lesser degree. I think if you're going to rank/rate drivers, it has to be by a certain criteria...and then you can line the drivers up accordingly. Thanks!

I keep coming back to my own theory. That if my videos are not shared by whoever, it's only because they need to be better, more interesting and more compelling by all standards, whatever those standards may be. Thanks...
@greggrauscher346 ай бұрын
@@HistoryMysteryMan I guess so, but your videos are already really good. I think sometimes there is just more demand for certain content/ it's more mainstream but that's more about views. I guess there are a lot of reasons people don't share...lazy, forget, don't like social media, etc. Having said that it's probably considered common courtesy if someone interviews/ profiles a person in a video they should share it, link it etc. I always did that with (online) newspaper articles the rare times I was profiled.

Don, I can't believe how packed and successful Millstream did on their first race in many years. I didn't realize they would have hill seating. And what nice grandstands. Man I hope they can continue and hold more races. And speaking of Millstream, was neat listening to Cale recall his last race their......back in 2016. He recounted like it was yesterday! Guess that is how racers are....they never seem to forget. And Cale/Kyle's wreck at Kokomo - with Kyle flipping I'd have to say Kyle got the worst end of the deal. Once again Don you always capture the flavor and atmosphere of the races. Maybe it's the music, maybe it's the panning around the corn fields, maybe it's showing all the local sponsors (Bar & Grills, Body Shops, Pizza Joints). I love it all. Really enjoyed getting to know Cale. Was watching another well known channel yesterday and they were talking about good picks to replace Bill Rose with the Outlaws (out with an injury). One of the top picks was Cale Thomas! I'd have to agree with that selection.

Thanks Chuck. Cale is a great story...love to see him get an opportunity with a big time team. It's the wheatfields that does it! Heartland of America! I thought Cale's video did very well; and I was so glad he shared it! HMM
