Great thoughts! Much like Dr. Kwon's description of the swing. It's one movement, not positions or parts. Create energy in the back swing and keep arms and shoulders relaxed. Lower body is the engine.

Ah man, I've been trying so hard to get hip depth in my lead hip that I've been early extending. When I get it wrong I can feel it damaging my back. Focusing on getting hip depth in the trail hip has just made me be able to sit properly, consistently. This is the best channel.

This is a great lesson, Milo! I already tried it and recorded myself. Terrific result. I remember you teaching this in a couple of your lessons, but this gives it a new way to think about it. One of the best instructional videos ( I hate to admit that I've literally have watched thousands). Worked on this drill this afternoon - immediate results - more so than any other drill - period. Very similar to what Drew was teaching with Brendan & Dr Kwon. In so many words, Drew said that he feels like he only applies pressure to golf shaft first 1/3 to 1/2 of back-swing and that momentum carries it to the top. In so many words, also said an aggressive transition is a death move. Your team did a phenomenal job explaining this critical part of the golf swing. You're one of the very best golf instructors - what you teach and the way you teach works!

When you get more hip depth it also adds forward bend, more forward bend is a shaft steepener. Do you just leave the clubhead “float” and let gravity shallow it ? Thanks for the great content!

Unique perspective to focus on place that is usually just that, a place you try to achieve. Dynamics plus muscle usage and intention I have only seen bertholy teach, ie, the vertices drop ,buckle, sit, slide, bump. To me the order is necessary. Buckle, then sit, then slide hips, then bump to , into left post. This brings a good perspective and awareness. Your teaching is always practical, yet right. Forthright with honest work. Thanks a million! I meant vertical drop not vertices

The tip that the "top" of the backswing is when you float, might be the exact feel I need to help get some flow. The thought of the "top" being when the hands are at the top might be too late for the float move? Going to try out that feel and get my video over to CoachNow! Thanks for this!

The pressure should have already moved or be in the process of moving back to the lead side, not so much a slide in my opinion, more a landing.

Hi guys. I believe the honey hole of the trail hip dipping is a reaction of the golf swing not a deliberate action on the golfer part and is actually done by the trail shoulder and trail knee working at the same time on the downswing. Cheers

Great concept and great video, Milo! I really like it. I love the idea of patience at the top of the swing (or in transition, as there is no top in your eyes). I love the idea of “floating” into the honey hole. My question to you is what do you think are the best drills you can implement that works on that floating move to get into the honey hole? Ate there one or two drills that can program the body to sit transition that allows the floating move? Thanks, as always, for sharing such great content. 👊👊

Great video. This series is discussing all the things I am working on!! Just a question, how does this video relate to the side bend video (rotating around the spin correctly). Does the side bend come after the squat or during it? Thanks

If you’re a right handed player left bend happens in the back swing and right bend starts in the unweighting phase.

This matches exactly what I felt last weekend. Played shitty for 12 holes then trying to “hit” the ball then felt like i got super chill and was -1 for the last 6. Flew the 17th green by 1.5 clubs with what felt like the easiest swing ever. Was weird lol.

Gary Woodland comes to mind. If you power the downswing with arms and hands I can imagine this swing feel would feel like a very late and delayed strike with the perception that your not hitting hard enough or swinging fast enough early enough.

Interesting concept. I have always been taught to shift first, then turn. This is different where you sit, and then shift and turn at the same time. That actually makes more sense to me. Is that what I am seeing ?

The sit/fall/recenter/float allows us to re-square and sets up the rotation so long as the wrist conditions and COM match. We cover these points with monthly individual analysis on my website: milolinesgolf.com.

Can’t wait to try this out! I’ve been so focused on freezing at the “top”, that like you guys have mentioned its become very jerky to start the downswing again, which usually results in a steepening of a shaft instead of that shallow float and free fall

That's why I bring up the swing set analogy so often
@jackwilliamson1929
@jackwilliamson1929 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is the key bit of info that no one else has clarified. It's the trail hip that gets additional depth, not the lead hip, as it appears to be in all the slow mo videos. That's why people hit the ground when trying to emulate this move they see the pros making. They see that they need to get lower to start the downswing but they try to do it as they rotate to the lead side keeping them down for to long and causing the swing to bottom out behind the ball. Without someone telling you how to do this move correctly, it's virtually impossible to replicate with consistency.
