Monty Lo That's great! Thanks for sharing

Loved your analysis and super slow motion video. What's really crazy is to watch how much they pronate on their second serves.

Isner also does the sampras snap! the wrist + arm rotation which leaves his palm up
@JimFawcette12 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Their racket speed is amazing. Yeah, they rotate severely. I can't rotate my arm slowly without a racket and get my palm to point straight up :) The sheer racket speed they generate at impact is amazing. At shutter 1/1000th sed rackets are blurred. There is a discussion about what that's called. Teaching pros say "pronate" but I understand that when they rotate the whole shoulder inwards as both do that's not pronation. Not sure it matters if we get the idea :)

Excellent !!

Thanks. Actually, I agree with you, with the possible -- possible -- exception of Jacob Johanson, whose career was cut short. Still holds the record for most aces in a 4 set match, and set that against Andre' Agassi, one of the best returners of all time.

i had a similar experience to the view on your ladder looking down at the box. All I changed in my serve was tried to catch the racquet and hit the ball on my way up from the jump.

John's pronation is insane!

Your analysis is incredible! You should offer player analysis services. 5 stars!

Eric Wilson Thanks. Milos has actually changed his motion a bit under Ivan Ljubic. Tosses less into the court, goes more up.
@ericwilson98289 жыл бұрын
Jim Fawcette In your opinion, is the change for the better or worse? It seems to me he'd have to strike the ball with significantly more velocity to make up for the fraction of a second he's giving his opponent by tossing less out in front.
@JimFawcette9 жыл бұрын
I defer to Ljibicic who said, "Milos needs to focus on location. He hits a 143 mph serve, Nishikori gets it back."

How else do u get spinn???
@JimFawcette11 жыл бұрын
Hey, whatever works!. I don't think anyone would teach Dolgopolov's serve for example {you'd have to be nothing but fast-twitch muscle fibre :) }, but it's extremely good. Lots of different ways to get there. Enjoy !

I'm no teaching pro, but most would say the "platform" serve {ala Sampras, Fed, Raonic} is preferable for general amateurs. Easier to be accurate and repeatable when your feet are solidly set. Good luck!

Yup. Although that's "Pim Pim", so I'll see your correction and raise you one :) Thanks.

true.really a shame that johanson didnt last longer.speaking of agassi.him and ivo played at the uso and it ended 76 76 76.

Great points and video, but where do see they are that much different? They both hit all the same key check points. Mild platform vs a pinpoint is no big difference really.

Strike points, grip, kick vs variation, long axis rotation variation vs lock in
@chtomlin9 жыл бұрын
Seems like you need more ability to lock in on comparing on specific type serve execution to make those claims. The vid compilation you use here shows a wide variety of serve types mixed in. These players use various serves for a 1st serve in different situations. Contact pt, toss and rotation will be different with different serves.

unless u are 6"6" tall you will never serve like they do. forget it, go for fed's or wawrinka"s serves. of djokers or rafas or roddicks lol or any one in the top 2000 players in the world
