What is 3ds Max CAT? 3ds Max CAT (Character Animation Toolkit) is an animation system inside Max that offers a lot of useful features.
If you are interested in CAT and why is it (in my opinion) better then biped or regular max bones, be sure to subscribe to the channel or watch other videos and tutorials I have already posted.

Screen capture quality of this video is a bit lower (especially during camera rotation). That's because I have used a different software for capturing and realized that the quality is worse only after the capturing was done. So I hope you can survive this one, it will be back to the regular quality videos again after this one.

What do you do to adjust the foot platform at the bottom of the leg? Mine is made with quite a big offset for some reason :S

Well, I am not planning to stop at all :) with these videos. They just sometimes get longer to make than I expect them to. And also have a lot of other stuff I have to do beside that, so it's sometimes hard to find the time for them. But I try :)

Milos, do you think you could record a tutorial or two, using CAT Survival Toolkit? I think it is basically the development AD should have made, themselves. The videos for the plugin, though, seem a bit hard to follow, with all the background music mixed with the dialog, and some have very little if any dialog at all. Thanks for considering it.

Hey Milos! Thanks so much for your tutorials, I've been animating stuff with the biped for 3 years in college and you and CAT changed my life Hahahaha. I'd like to ask you how rigs are made for squashing and stretching with CAT.

Hey, Thank You! Always nice to see new CAT users :). With squash and stretch it's a little bit tricky with CAT. CAT can only do squashing and stretching without volume preserving by default and that's easy to set up. Just allow stretching in "Link Info" panel for the bone you would like. However to set up volume preserving squash and stretch you need to use regular max bones with squash and stretch and align/link them to the CAT bones. Then skin the mesh to the Max bone, not CAT bone. I plan to do a video on this also. But will take some time probably.

Can you show, how make IK lap with CAT? Just I have a lot of bug, when try make cat(person). All lap or overtaken, or lagged. I think I can fix this with help IK/FK scroll, but this scroll was be apply at all bones at limbs.

No. It's a built-in feature inside 3ds Max since version 2010.

how to you change the pivot point to the center of the eye

If you mean placing the Eye Bone to the Mesh of the Eye, it's just a simple Align (Alt+A key as a default). If you want to move pivot of the Eye Mesh, that's in the Hierarchy Panel -> Pivot tab at the top -> activate Affect Pivot Only -> and hit Center to Object

Why cannot 3ds max have presets for all animals and you just control them walking jumping etc on different terrains like in the game. Do you know plugins that can do it? Thanks. .

Well, you are asking why do we have animators at all. Why isn't everything already done so we could just use it :). As you can see, it's a lot of work to create something like this. You can not have all the things done unless somebody does them. I hope there isn't a plugin like that, because then I would be out of work :D.

just unbelievably annoying try to align bones when everything is wireframe. Impossible to get any accuracy using this primitive system. After using Blender this system feels so clunky, I rig an ant in 20mins including weight painting in Blender. I mean it takes 10mins to change all the bone colours just so I can see them lol
