Very cool. I recently used my Dewalt Atomic 20V oscillating tool to cut back some branches and it actually works really well. You can "stab" at hard to reach spots to make the cut.

I've used the Ryobi pruner for a couple of years. When they say 2,000 cuts on a charge, they mean it. Milwaukee looks like it handles nicer. I'll buy Milwaukee when the Ryobi dies, but I'm really impressed with the Ryobi. It's a great tool in the garden.

I have this and I love it it’s good for fast n easy work I can cut off a big piece then chop it up into small pieces over the trash can and get a lot in the one green trash bin we have . I seen Ryobi has that 3 foot one and a 9 foot I think it is , the videos show it cuts very slow compared to the m12 but that reach would be really nice , the 9 ft ryobi is like 250 tool only which I paid for the m12 kit a month ago .

I just got one yesterday and used it . Its a powerful tool but i am questioning my self should i try dewalt also. This thing gets heavy after 15 to 20 minute use and my hand got tired. Still way better than manual pruners. 😂😂 its feel kinda little heavy . If dewalt is lighter then i am going for dewalt.

Would like to have seen you go up to say the 6amp battery when it reached it limits in cut width and seen if there was any improvement over the 2 ah battery .

Comparing this vs the Dewalt version, the dewalt takes the win for me. People who need this is looking for ease of use and ergonomics. The Dewalt is well balanced and the grip is what wins for me. Over the years the thing I personally have issue with most on M12 is the handle being so large. I have large hands, but holding onto a grip that wide gets tiring while working. And the seperation of the safety and trigger means you have to spread ur fingers more as well. Other than that, price is insane for this, nearly double. I'm interested whether this is well balanced tho, it seems front heavy. End of the day to each their own, they both look like they'll get the job done. Just wish Milwaukee would focus more on ergonomics like yellow and blue.

I 100% agree with you The crazy thing is they had an opportunity with the way they mounted the battery to make the handle smaller and they refuse to do it not to mention release the end of August the season's over come on Milwaukee Love my DeWalt Glad I bought it.

Totally. The dewalt pruner was easily one of the best tools I’ve ever bought. Saves my back too because I used to use a looper or chainsaw to cut the thicker branches and then have to pick them up off the ground when don’t cutting it to pieces. Now it’s a seemless process, branch in one hand and chopping it into pieces with the other right into the can

I have to disagree. I bought the Dewalt for my wife and she hated it. She thinks it is way to big and awkward. She really did not like the shape of the Dewalt and felt it was harder to get into where she wanted to cut.I waited for the M12 to come out and she really likes it and how much smaller it is than the Dewalt. FWIW I'm pretty much a Dewalt person and have about twenty 20 volt tools and six 60 volt tools. I do like some of the tools in the M12 line and like the size of the tools with the 2.0 and HO 2.5 batteries.

Dewalt out did themselves on this tool. I have a Dewalt pair and the ergonomics are excellent, runtime is great. Paired with a power stack battery it’s lightweight and much better designed to remove battery, unlike m12 in my experience.

I would not use this. I have seen that Ryobi makes a cordless small bolt cutter that would be perfect for that.

Not that they can be compared by brand quality or battery size but I’d love to see how these compare to the Ryobi loppers for less then half the price. Edit: I realize now that I was misremembering what the price of the Ryobi HP shear was. Though I’d still like to see both of the Ryobi versions tested and then put head to head with the Milwaukee.

As a 20+ year landscaper whose felco 2 is practically an extension of my own hand, the anvil and blade design of this looks like it’s downfall. You need an 1 1/4” in the center of the anvils hook to truly get that actual cut capacity on a bypass pruner. For comparison a “1 inch” felco 2 or corona bp6250 are almost 3 inches from anvil tip to blade tip when open, and about 2” when measured like this Milwaukee. With a strong hand and rocking through the cut the felco can do a 1.75” cut no problem. The design of this Milwaukee will want to push heavy material forward before slicing through, which not only doesn’t let the blade complete the cut as you experienced, it also decreases the mechanical advantage and the pruner struggled as a result. Green wood on crapes is reasonably soft to cut through. A pin oak for instance, or pretty much any thick dead wood, can be a major workout on your hand. I got myself one of the dewalt pruners early this year just for this to start giving my right hand a break when doing very long pruning sessions (ie large rose gardens, or pruning out lots of dead wood from winter damage) It is definitely not perfect but they did a pretty good job with the blade and anvil, it hooks and holds the branch well through the cut. I like the tool body of this Milwaukee much better, but the battery should have gone straight into the bottom so you can more easily sneak it into shrubs without hanging up. The dewalt is comfortable in the hand but I find it clunky and hard to work into shrubs with the offset blade and size of the battery. I wish either would have teamed up with felco or corona for the blade and anvil design. Seems so simple but completely changes how the tool performs. Makita has a 12v on the way, I hope they make an 18v as I really have grown to love the 18vx2 makita top handle saw and hedge trimmer and would love to give a pruner from them a try.

I have a Ridgid 18v I use for long pruning sessions, and it works ok up to 1" dried buckthorn. It makes the felco 2 feel redundant now. It was enlightenment for me. I still have to drag around those two handed shears though. The Milwaukee looks like it has hilarious ergonomics, it's too long for only a 12v tool. Why didn't they put the motor in the handle for better balance? The Dewalt uses a cheaper brushed motor, which explains its size, but it's also half the price of the Ridgid and the Milwaukee. The 12v UP100D Makita is probably the best, as it is, made in Japan and seems the most svelte. Too bad it costs about $600 when you convert what it's for sale in other markets..

both the hook and the blade need to be longer. the cutting set needs to be bigger/longer! so that there is no difficulty in thicker branches. All my machines are MILWAUKEE but I must confess that sometimes there are small flaws that hinder the development of the work! I've already written to MILWAUKEE a few times to report certain malfunctions in other tools, but they don't want to know! And this in the long run will destroy the brand!

If you have kids at home I don’t recommend it. This tool will cleanly cut a little kid’s finger right off. It has the strength to cut and tear the human body. Stick with the manual pruner.
