Just did a stage 1 on my 2011 SG 103. Big Sucker a/c with stock football cover, Cobra Power Port Head Pipes with Cobra 909 mufflers. I got 92hp/99ft.lbs with paperwork to prove it. These are very impressive numbers from what I've saw.

Usually 2 tanks of fuel while auto tuning will give the best results and not all exhaust systems provide the best results , and I did loose torque setting up my stage 1 with a complete Rush exhaust but gained horse power so the power curve moved up in the rpm range and the bike ran perfect

My 2015 numbers for stage one are 89 hp and 101 ft lbs toque. I have no idea what was done to it the previous owner gave me all the paperwork when I bought the bike. But John Maxwell was the tech who tuned it!

Hi brow.....I have a road glide ultra 2018 and I very strange sound appears when I pull the clutch to switch gear....it's like I had switched but not yet. Any tip or information regarding it? Thanks

Very good video! The FP3 is great for correcting AFR if your exhaust or air cleaner is throwing an error code (like lean mixture) but they can’t really improve performance. And the reason for that is that it only works with the narrow band O2 sensors on the bike so they aim to a 14.4-14.7 AFR which is a good compromise between performance and fuel economy. If you want performance you need a lower AFR, like 13.0-13.5 which is impossible with this setup. You need wide band O2 sensors and an FP pro.

FP3 is a pain in the but to tune on a dyno. Also EPA is trying to stop people from using tuners to break the EPA rules. Freedom is going away fast.

I purchased a fp3 and took the bike to get dyno tuned and found out at the time. The tuner couldn't make the adjustments to raise AFr and spark timing and vehicle speed to properly tune the bike. Had to buy a powervision with target tune to dial in my bike. Now I have fp3 as a paper weight

Just took home my forever bike: a new 2023 Road Glide standard. Stage 1 cost and tuning for statistically negligible increases is something Ill avoid this time. Ditch the cat and add uncorked slip-ons and I think we have all I need for now. The 128 kit with cams that will eventually make its way into my bike will then get a tune and intake

Had an FP3 on 2019 street bob then ditched it for the power vision to bypass the speed limiter ordered it through fuelmoto with a tune to match my set up night and day difference

I have a 2019 street glide special it seems the power dies completely by 4k rpm it has an arlan ness intake and tab duals. I’m thinking maybe someone didn’t tune it? Or are these rpm’s normal. I’m coming from a hopped up tc and that thing still pulls up to 6k rpm

I didn't notice any fans running to keep the motor cool. Im thinking that may reduced the tuner numbers since you did the run test first without the tuner and the engine was now being tested hot.

I would highly recommend using a Dynojet Power Vision and getting a real dyno tune. It will never be at its full potential with the Fuelpak. I have a 2017 road glide ultra with the SE torque cam, Fuel Moto jackpot header, Rinehart slipons, and SE intake tuned with the power vision. My numbers are 92.71hp and 108.62 tq.

Completely agreed. Importing an off-the-shelf map into the bike, without engaging auto-tune and riding the map and fine tuning it. It is a USELESS thing to do. He touches on this at the end, but completely missed the mark. There is no point in comparing "canned maps".

I have the stage 1 and it is not tuned...my fuel mileage fell off the clift . I am going for a stage 2,,because I want 100 horsepower and 110 torque

Do you need to buy the tuner? Depends if you want to blow torch the top of your pistons with how lean the motor will be running after a intake and exhaust is installed. Lol

Make sure to let them know if you have to go back to the dealership. EPA has cracked down & once you plug the bike to Digital Tech it flags your bike to void the warranty. Not sure if the FP3 does it but we’ve seen other tuners void warranties as of late. Talk with John Maxwell. I’m sure he’s seeing it to.

If you read through the HD warranty you'll see that it can be voided for pretty much ANYTHING. Just depends on how the dealer wants to handle the situation is really what it comes down to.

You might want to check out Fuel Moto. I think they routinely see a 10hp/10ft-lb increase on the M8 with a Stage 1 kit and Dynojet Powervision tune.

Power Vision is the better choice, a little more spendy but worth it. And if you can afford it have a reputable shop doing an actual tune.

I had a Fuelpak and ditched it. No matter what map they gave me for my 2 into 1 set up my bike was lean and running hot. I switched to a Power Vision and actually had it tuned and Dyno'd. The tune with the power vision is 100 times better than any of the 5 "custom" maps VH sent me. When it comes to unleashing performance safely the Fuelpak is NOT the way to go.

100% correct, I have experienced the very same across 5 different Harley's (4 Dyna's and 1 Sportster). Fuelpak might get rid of deceleration pops but that is about it. DynoJet Power Vision with a custom dyno tune is the only way to go if you want reliability and power out of your Harley.

@@UnrulyRider 100% spot on. The maps they gave reduced the decel popping but that was it. The bike ran extremely hot I was nervous to ride it. After a bunch of messing with the FP3 I had a shop order, install, and tune the bike with the Power Vision. It is like a completely different bike now. It is spendy, but not as spendy as a new motor.

5HP and 2ftlb is really pathetic. I did a Stage I on my 2018 RKS (A/C and slip-ons only), but never did any dyno-ing. Just a stock map from the dealer. Also never really compared the performance of my bike to a stock one. I always assumed my bike performed better. Now that I've seen this I'm convinced a Stage I is purely cosmetic. Now I must admit I chose my "performance" parts because of how they looked. I wanted a round A/C and slash-cut mufflers. This time, however, I'm doing it wholly different. On my 2020 RKS (my 2018 got stolen, otherwise I wouldn't have changed anything) I'm doing a Fuel Moto big bore kit. I'm absolutely stoked to riding the new bike with the significant performance upgrade (30%+ more torque, 50%+ more power).

For such and advanced motor from Harley I would have expected higher hp. You really have to throw alot of money into stage 2 or 3 to see real power gains. There are bike that stock from the factory with 90+ hp and over 120 torque for the same amount of money you'll spend to get more power out of an already expensive bike.

Stage I "upgrades" are really cosmetic and acoustic. The increase in power is negligible.

Should I get a stage 1 for a stock 107? Does it affect reliability or does it make the engine breathe and run better? I am also not sure about messing with stock ecu and timing. Just a weekend rider

@@chrisdawson8252 if you just want slip ons for sound then that's fine as long as you have the stock breather. If you want slip ons and breather then you must run a tuner because these engine's are factory tuned very lean and those mods are wasted money without a tune and could make matters worse. Depends on what you want and how much want to spend. I'd you want the bike to run it's best then it's all worth it. Just don't expect to gain 50hp.

I don't think The FP3 is about max power/torque, it's more to get the fuel ratio better in the low and mid range to correct for the better air flow of the filter and exhaust the low to mid range is were you will feel it more when riding and especially when over taking. It would be interesting to see another run after the auot tune has been run a couple of times. Food to see a true comparison. Cheers

@@robtoma5650 how much is an FP3? $350-400 I think. It doesn't even eliminate the OEM speed limiter. You would think for that kind of money an after market ECM calibration device would at least do that.

M.V.O _Motorfast it doesn’t I delt with it for months talking to Vance and Hines never could get it to bypass the speed limiter went with the power vision from fuel moto with there tune instantly better and no problem with the limiter

At least you understand that they are a starting base map. Not a one and done. With a proper tuning device you can gain hp&tq. From timing and AFRS.

Im running stage 1 on my 2020 softail, no tune, and bike runs phenomenal. Tune not needed for stage one on M8s. hit a top speed of 120mph. 107.

If it's not tuned, you're not doing 120. The governor will stop it well before that.

@@WolfinWolvesClothing713 nope. No governor. Bought it brand spanking new to, back in 2020. Only 5 miles on the odometer. I installed the S&S high flow teardrop air cleaner, and had the Cobra neighbor haters on it. Was fast! Then I eventually went stage 2 with the S&S 465 cam, and dynojet tuner put in, and then it became a nightmare. Drivability went out the window. Did stage 2 at 5K miles, and then at 6K, I traded her in for a new 2021 road glide standard. About to hit my 1K service, and after that, I’m digging into the cam chest. Think I’m going Zippers 468 cam this time around.

@@MadMexism ah, I thought you were saying stock. I plan on going with a zippers kit too. I have the torque cam in it right now, and warranty for the rest of the summer. Just ordered the power vision, if anything happens, I'll just put it back before I take it in, but I doubt anything will happen before the warranty expires. Then zipper kit this winter. Hope it works for you, from what I've seen everyone loves the zippers m8 cam.

If you're looking for power you just need to build the engine. Don't waste time with bolt ons thinking you'll actually get results. My stroked 96" bored to 107" was 120hp-120tq. Could out run 600's on it. It's pricey but worth the money if you're looking for power.

I think most of the people commenting are forgetting that when you are looking at these numbers. This is WITHOUT suitable airflow going through the cleaner, which is why the power is not impressive. Even the stock numbers are much higher.

I don't understand the reasoning behind showing what any tuner does with only a canned starting map - all you are evaluating is what happens before you give auto tuning a chance to work, who cares? Else, agree that you do not do stage 1 for power - you do it for looks of the new exhaust, elimination of the heat from the cat in the oem exhaust, preparation for stage 2 or above mods, sound of the new exhaust, and some folks like the weight reduction you sometimes get.

Sounds like a lazy dyno. those numbers are lower than harley. fuelmoto, and collsprings's ratings. Their dyno needs to e recailbrated.

Doesn't really matter what the dyno figures are, as long as the same dyno with same calibration used for all the runs. With this work you are looking for changes, not absolute numbers. Unless of course it's for bar room bragging!
