I'm a commercial electrician and I use the 3 plane laser for fixture layouts and everything else that needs to be square. Often exposed work that runs perpendicular to an existing wall is where this laser comes in handy. I call using this laser the buy one get one free method.

Great to hear that, this laser definitely is handy. I don't think Milwaukee also advertises it as a plumb bob, but the intersections are accurate for that type of use, which some electricians may need from time to time.

Hey I just purchased this for that exact reason...used the slightly cheaper dewalt version for years but time to upgrade...been installing bathroom partitions for over about 15 years now and using a laser like this is a massive time saver for getting brackets layed out and I do my layout for ceiling hung on the floor and shoot my drill lines up with the 2 plane options to act as a plumb line

I definitely agree and you can turn out a really nice finished product a lot easier.

I like your review of this unit. Can it be seen outside at around 50 feet distances? Thanks and Cheers from Texas.

It can be on a cloudy day or at dusk/dawn. Milwaukee is going to introduce a laser detector soon for outdoors that goes 165'.

Wierd question can you use this upside down? Say I needs a line closer to the floor than the height of the unit.. for example

It won't self-level upside down. I don't know of any other brands that shoot a laser that low. Maybe you could use it, measure down and then snap a chalk line at the floor level?
