Glue a metal sheet cut to size on to your Johnson Bracket and just use the magnets on the Milwaukee and don't worry about the knob. Or you can make your own Johnson Bracket out of timber that works the same way, and you will have the benefit of having a flat surface to stick to the wall. I just use a small piece of MDF with metal sheet stuck to it and I use 3M Command Strips to hang on the customers wall, when finished I just pull down on the Command Strips and it comes off with no damage to the wall, no glue residue.

A few months back in the summer when it was raining every day I pulled up at customers house and driveway was full so I had to pull my truck up in yard right by the street. I started unloading and it was raining pretty good and I picked up my Bosch telescoping pole off for my laser level off the back of the truck and the pivoting end-cap of the pole that touches the ceiling fell off ..... it falls right on the side of the street where the water is channeled and starts floating down the street and there was a gutter about 15 feet ahead and then it all hit me ..... this is just like the book "IT" by Stephen King! If it had gone into the gutter theres no doubt I would have heard " Hey Laser Boy. I see you lost your pole cap. What a shame.. Hey I'll give it back to you!." coming from that gutter.

Unless I’m missing something, it’s not 360, 3 plane though. I use a Bosch. It’s the only Bosch I have besides it and a belt sander. It has a micro adjust vertical mount that can stand alone or be mounted to a tripod or the telescopic pole. About 4-5 inches of travel on that mount.
@stevenvachon97452 жыл бұрын
I think the Bosch is still the one to be beat. I especially like the blue tooth option so when it's mounted up high on a pole or anywhere for that matter, you can turn it off without touching the unit. This is something I use all the time. Nice to see Milwaukee coming up with new ideas though.

@@aptpupil making a wall ultra flat by adding shim strips to make up for any warped studs. Can be a necessity in renovation where the original framing is all over the place. Especially ceilings where you have long spans with crowned joists in varying degrees. Carpenters will nail 2x or 1x battens at 90 degrees across the entire ceiling at regular intervals. Then they can shim down the high spots to bring the ceiling into dead flat. A laser will give you a constant flat reference plane that you can measure your framing by.

Thanks Spencer for the review. I just bought the Milwaukee 3 plane laser a couple weeks ago when my Bosch GLL 2-20 (red beam) gave up the ghost. I researched the other Milwaukee laser options and decided to spend the extra money and go with the 3 plane which provides a plumb point as you explained in your review. I have an equal amount of DeWalt and Milwaukee tools so I wouldn't consider taking on a third battery platform to save on the initial purchase of another brand. I use my Fast Cap 3rd Hand and magnetic mount with no problems. Although it does require me to mount the laser at 90 degrees on the mount due to the increased laser size, but that doesn't change a thing.

I was using an old Bosch redline laser and when it came time to switch the green line laser options seemed slim especially for the cost. I ended up getting a heuspar (sp?) 3 plane laser off Amazon which is serviceable. I don’t think it is as bright as the Milwaukee but it was less than half the price and it has the third plane. I don’t often use the third plane but when you need it, you really need it.

I switched from the 2 plane Dewalt Green Laser to the 3 plane Milwaukee green laser. I love the fine adjustment mechanism and the m12 battery. I was in the same situation. Lots of m12 tools and only 1 12volt dewalt tool. However, the dewalt laser was stronger/brighter making it easier seeing under daylight. It wasn't a huge difference, just enough to be noticeable. Virtually the same as the Makita 4 point laser that has been out for more than 2+ years now (Makita SK106GDZ), except the Makita uses a 12v battery to keep the weight and size down (they do make an 18v adapter though, which I don't much care for). I wish they did an 18v direct though but people in the field apparently appreciate the smaller battery size. The problem with all of these forward projecting laser levels, is that they only project forward of the laser level and only project 2 planes, which means you cannot obtain a 360 degree all at once projection for each plane. If you are working forward facing of the device only, then any of these forward projecting laser level brands are more than adequate, choose on laser brightness/projection distance and accuracy and of course battery lock-in. In terms of accuracy, Makita lists as more accurate, but seriously 3.18mm over 10m (Milwaukee) vs 3 mm over 10m (Makita) would literally be statistical noise. The Milwaukee units list as good for 38m vs 35 for the Makita units, although reviews tend to favor the Makita, but that's subjective. If you are trying to put in something like a raised floor or a drop ceiling, the Makita SK700GD allows the full 360 projection all at once so you get a level across the whole room all at once. Milwaukee M123PLA401C is similar with 3 planes but it's more awkward to use than the Makita. Personal opinion: Curse these tools makers for never coming up with a universal battery standard. I know why they don't do it, but even Apple with it's lightning connector got told to pull it's head in by the EU recently, it's past time these tool manufacturers faced a similar directive.

Seems like as most tech devices get smaller, laser levels just get bigger. The 2 horizontal dots seem useless. Why would you need them when you have a horizontal line? I use a LT52G thas has a 5 point dot that I use often to transer a line point 90 degrees because it has a forward dot and 2 on the sides, and the up and down along with the vertical and horizontal solid lines. If you aligned the vertical dot on a point, then aligned the horizontal dots on your line thhat you want to transfer square, can you use the vertical line as another aligngment point to make a square?

Totally appreciate your review. I've been hearing good things about this laser. A few years ago I had heard a really good review of a huepar. Bit the bullet and paid I think 240 for the deluxe kit. It has the adjustable base, well multiple actually and magnetics and micro-adjust bases. It also has a remote control fob that actually works incredibly well and I never knew I needed it until I had it. I can turn it off and on and change plans of the laser without touching it, which is Hella nice if you spent 10 15 minutes trying to get it just right... But boy I sure would like something that works off the same batteries I'm using everywhere else! However it hasn't really been a problem, because the you power comes with 2 batteries and I haven't had them run out in the middle of a job yet 😋. That being said, it's a super bright laser with a lot of functionality, the batteries are really the only drawback to it. I'm surprised the Milwaukee base doesn't come off. My Hilti let's you take it off the microadjust base so you can use other accessories.

You've probably addressed this in the feed of another video so I apologize for any redundancy, but why have you opted to go with so many M12 tools? I know some of the stuff - the laser and the small sander - come in the M12 format, but don't you find you're lacking drive power on drills? Great review, btw.

Most of the drilling applications I do are not power intensive. I wanted to try a more compact size and feel.

Milwaukee blows away DeWalt all day and then some. I was never a fan of DeWalt tools. I've had some but I was a Bosch guy till a year ago. I have switched out 90% of my tools to Milwaukee and growing. I'm anxious to get a Milwaukee track saw set, a miter box, and maybe a Jobsite table saw. With your skills you should make your own wall bracket.

Why not add a metal plate to the mount on your bracket. And don't use the screw on point.
