Another awesome tool by Milwaukee. Purchased it as a combo (included rapid charger, & 1 High Output XC 6.0 battery) from HD for $299. Live in Florida, & it’s already paid for itself by taking down a dying 12-13 foot palm tree. Effortlessly cut through its 10” wide trunk making nice logs for the fire pit. Also perfect for trimming palm fronds, bushes, & even cutting down palm trees. Great value, & one of the most used in a growing collection of Milwaukee tools.

How did you cut through a 10 inch trunk with 6-7 inches worth of usable bar and chain?

Have it. Love it. Think it does a ton of great work and so much better at many tasks than a larger chainsaw. Have the M18 chainsaw and have had a gas STIHL before that - I find I can do almost all my maintenance work with this hatchet. Unless you're felling a proper tree of real size, this does small trees and branches in a snap.

Great review Rob. I have the M12 Hatchet and I use the M12, 5 ah, HO battery in it and I love it. It makes pruning a breeze and I was even able to cut up some large tree branches that fell after a storm. That little saw went through 6-7” pine branches without a problem. I ended up using more than my M18, 16” chain saw. Thanks so much for the video!

Red makes M12 small sawsall in the same size. I built a deck and had to prune some trees. Just used a sawsall and Bosch aggressive wood blade. Cuts like butter.

1/2/23..I am a handy man & use Milwaukee because of battery compatibility. Great job Milwaukee engineers & management. Now, this little 'Hatchette', yes looks very handy for carrying (bag or 5g bucket with spare batt) & cutting millions of those bushy branches or even many of my local Pine Tree small branches..but..wait!..did you say $500 ! Noway! They gotta do much better than that. $200 tops! Always enjoy your channel content, your shop, camera lighting, closeups & descriptions. Happy NewYear! Stay safe & carry on!👍👍👍👨‍🔧😊

Thanks for the review! I've owned it for a couple months and I'm very happy with it. I've been wanting a saw that I can carry in my truck 24/7 for off-roading and when I take my truck in the field for work. It fits that need perfectly while not taking up too much space.

I use the M12 for processing trees. Bigger saw to fell and section then once I get below 4” on all the limbs this does the rest. Really speeds things up compared to any other chainsaw/loppers I’ve used.

Very intrigued by this one and I’m on the m18 platform. That said probably a no go for me. $279 is too much for a bare tool of this nature in my opinion. That coupled with the fact that I wouldn’t need it often makes it a bad value for me personally.

I’m hoping! Just ordered it! That’s what I’m looking for! That limbing pruning saw. No gas ready to go in a second. Just ordered from Home Depot with 2 small batteries, drill and impact. Less than $500. I think it was worth it so far.

Good demonstration, I don't have the saw but I have seen several videos on what kind of saw I want to enjoy. This saw is no. 1 as it is low in speed (5m/s) but look at the chain there is no space between the teeth so in my opinion it saws like a saw that runs at 10m/s and it does not stop where there is variable speed regulation which allows you to save even more on the battery and heat the saw blade is 20cm long and a nice size, the only thing that should be that the oil flows without it being switched on, I don't know if this is the case, I wonder if you can put it on the side so the oil remains in the container.

I had to cut the tree on the fence line. It was an hesitant job although problematic if not done. I used a jig saw to cut the smaller branches and cordless chainsaw for the larger cuts. I was thinking this hatchet saw would be ideal for the branches too large for the secateurs.

Didnt think of it - I probably should have mentioned that the Milwaukee M18 is the bigger, faster , more powerful version of the M12 version

I'm just starting as a climber, was looking for a light saw able to cut through 4-6" branches, I'm guessing oak would be the hardest. Yall think this is the best milwaukee option for that? Also am I supposed to get oil or something for the blade?

This Hatchet sounds good. How does it compare to using a Hackzall for trimming branches, etc? I've used my 12V Hackzall for this, and it worked pretty well.
@johnloran
@johnloran Жыл бұрын
I've got both the m18 one handed hackzall and this hatchet. The hackzall gets the job done with an aggressive 5 tpi wood blade but takes longer and vibrates more so you feel it in your hands if using it alot. The hatchet cuts way faster and is smoother with less vibration. I'm a gardener so I use it most days and worth the outlay for me. If you just use occasionally and not for prolonged periods then the hackzalls/sawzalls are fine👍

This would be a real time saver on my attendance, but... the addition of speed means I feel like my clumsy self would (eventually) end up lopping off a finger. Being an amature, there's a degree of forced-focus that comes form a tool that is much heavier. :/

Wonder how this will stand in a project farm video. also $279 is pretty steep for a bare tool which undoubtably needs the expensive batteries.

I am SO terrified of any chain saw and still use a sawzaw with a pruning blade (Diablo) for stuff like that. I don't know. Knew too many people who made a mistake and hurt themselves.

Another great video. No doubt this saw will perform. I am a woodturner and have been considering this saw because of its compact size to pack on road trips for occasional use when I come across a nice piece of wood. In your opinion, would this work for cutting a 8-12” diameter log? Of course I would have to cut from both sides. Thank you.

#1 the saw by it self WITHOUT oil or a battery is 4.9 lbs #2 it is not faster then a 25cc saw, people have tested this and the 25cc saw is 20-30% faster #3 I bought one, so don’t think I am just some fan of other brands, #4 it is ok to read from the Milwaukees script that they send you but you should know that they lie, A LOT in their advertising and marketing and scripts…. So does everyone else, but Milwaukee are hand and hand with flat out lying.

I am a professional landscaper that owns a landscape company. This saw is way too much money for what it is. My company is on multiple platforms including Milwaukee but $279 for this is ridiculous. They price themselves out of the market on some of their tools but the price will go down when they see sales are not where they should be. Milwaukee will always price their new tools very high because they know the Fanboys will buy them at any cost after that they will lower the price when no one else will buy them . There are a lot better options out there such as the 10-in top handle Makita or even Milwaukee's pole saw. We bought weed whip kits that comes with a 8 Amp Hour battery on sale for $200 then bought chainsaw attachments for under $100. We run both of these saws on job sites and they work great. If you pay whatever amount of money these companies ask they will continue to raise prices. Be smart.
