Thanks Mr Maximus. This is a good introduction for those of us who have never taken a Sawzall apart.

I have one similar to that, maybe slightly older. Blades get stuck now. Bought the black Makita battery powered. It is fantastic. Gonna be sad to sell the Milwaukee, it has served me well.

I have a model 6518. It does not have the four set screws that go through the rubber boot. It has only one set screw that is used to control and lock the extension of the shoe.

What kind of grease do you use in this, and other power tools
@davidyoung85213 ай бұрын
It looks like wheel bearing grease to me. High temp and pressure resistant.

I have a 6509---but I can't find a replacement trigger switch (23-66-1970 or 1965). I don't want to dump a good tool, just for a switch.

Are the older ones better than new or did they keep their standards

Failing to have a flashlight is not your fault but caused by Murphy's Law. It applies to everything. For over a half-century I have been eating cheeseburgers. In all that time I have always failed to take a napkin when I picked up the burger. It is not until the sauce is running down my arm that I realize I have no napkin. I used to blame myself until I realized the problem was caused by an ancient scentifical principal. Now I don't worry about Murphy's Law because it is like gravity, always there.
