--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Milwaukee Tool strives to innovate the tool industry. This time Milwaukee Tool has created the first motorized torque wrench. The goal of this new innovative Digital Torque Wrench is to deliver more productivity, precise torque accuracy, and advanced reporting functionality. The Milwaukee Tool M12 FUEL 3/8” and 1/2” Digital Torque Wrenches w/ ONE-KEY are most fitting and designed around commercial electricians. In commercial electrical situations, they will deliver 50% faster installation times, replacing hand tools or the traditional two-tool installation processes and providing more accuracy to reduce the over-torqueing of fasteners.
These tools combine a POWERSTATE Brushless Motor in a design similar to the M12 FUEL Ratchet and a digital torque wrench. Milwaukee also has impressive torque accuracy of up to ±2% CW, ±3% CCW of full scale for torque critical fasteners.
How The Digital Torque Wrench Works
Milwaukee Tool has integrated many adjustable variables into the settings of the new Digital Torque Wrench. While these settings will help you to interact with the tool exactly how you would like, the tool will operate in simple terms as stated below:
Step 1: Set the torque target by application
Step 2: Pull the trigger to max RPM
Tool will automatically stop prior to target torque to prevent over-torqueing
Step 3: Finish by hand to reach target torque
The tool will notify the user is the proper torque was applied through sound, vibration, LED lights, and an on-screen notification.
Step 4 (Optional): Press “Save” to record the final torque event
Note that the user is able to set values for the tool to stop tightening the fastener prior to hitting the set torque value. The user can set over-torque warnings based on percentages or actual values. Quick modes can be set for different jobs that allow all of these settings to be chosen quickly so the user spends more time working than setting up the tool for the process.
The Milwaukee Tool M12 FUEL 3/8” and 1/2” Digital Torque Wrenches have a lot of adjustments and settings that might seem overwhelming when you first turn on the tool. Any user will very quickly be able to set the tool up for any job in seconds after moving around the settings once. This is not your Grandfather's digital torque wrench! It is capable of much more.

I'm a commercial journeyman electrician, we use this Milwaukee M12 tool for torque specs on the wire lugs for all the panels and switch gear. It has been adopted in the new 2020 code book that we have to torque test all "main" terminal landing spots for wire terminations. It's easier to use this tool with one key to keep a "log" of what the specs are to show the inspectors that wanna see it.

I and my staff got these for free while many have to buy at regular prices. Many regular shops will not carry it do to the prices. Some tire shops, well maybe. But it is much cheaper using the click torque wrench. This in 3/8 or 1/2" with descent two 6A batteries & good charger will be over $1,000.00. This one of the best Chinese tools that one can buy if you don't want to use the shop tools.

yeah and if you put lugs on the right way (impacting them down right before the lug nut touches the wheel then get the torque wrench and ratchet it down until it it's tight then clicks) you'll probably find that just torquing it with this tool is faster it just looks slow because theirs less motion. That would be an interesting side by side

That's why you use torque sticks or torque extensions. It only allows the impact to tighten fasteners to a certain torque and no tighter. Tightening fasteners with an impact using a torque stick, then double checking each fastener with a torque wrench for accuracy, is a quicker method to tighten fasteners to the correct torque.
@jacobhauenstein
@jacobhauenstein 2 жыл бұрын
@@tylerworrell4446 how accurate are torque sticks though? Also How are we impacting a lug onto a stud if the impact only engages when over a torque threshold? If you are putting on lugs for example, you could spin down the nut with a impact or a regular drill, if you are going to hand tighten it to spec, you don’t need over 30ftlb to start anyways, from 30ftlb to 80ftlb is not going to take multiple turns

Always good for Milwaukee developing new tools. For me it’s not something I’d buy. My snap on 3/8 tech angle flex head was under 500...and electricians could use it or mechanics...personally I use my Mac “ click style “ torque wrench after I run the lug nuts down on ‘ hand mode’ with the IR impact wrench... Great video definitely steered me away from it a bit as a mechanic may be interested in the 3/8 but the 1/2 is just way to low of a torque spec. I came here after seeing them while shopping around online and was curious if I was seeing it right as it had an electric ratcheting mechanism which is definitely cool as if I’m torquing stuff down it’s only one tool I’d have to grab instead of say a cordless ratchet or an impact. I agree that most times I’m using a click style torque wrench I really only see the need for digital once your getting into engine work and really fine detail work such as that. I personally wouldn’t go into an engine without a snap on tech angle torque wrench that I know is in calibration. Just being able to feel but also see as you’re getting close to the spec and stop pulling so hard/fast is what I like about them. Have been in shops where they supplied the tech angle torque wrench and wanted it used on everything from wheels to engine and it’s just not practical feeling like you torqued it wrong because you went a small percentage over the spec. Take wheels for example if the spec is 100 ft lbs but your moving a bit quick and it gets to 103-105 ft lbs it won’t be the end of the world yes still over torqued but not to the point where you need a lingering red light showing everyone around you went over. Comes down to the right tool for the job I guess

never seen torque check at a tire shop. don't go that often these days cause i got my own tire machine, but my experience had been, if anything, they are over torqued. once 45 years ago had a wheel fall off after a tire change at a shop, but it had bolt on hub cap that kep all the lug nuts and we jacked up the car and put it back on, but that is the big exception in a lifetime. maybe industry standards have changed since i started doing my own although I agree that if there is attention to this, torque sticks are the obvious choice and they could still run one slightly heavier than the majority of recommendations. I just can't see the utility of wrench, click style or otherwise, versus an impact driver when the wheel is in the air.

This model appears to be popular and a little harder to find for that reason. I can't judge the dependability as I have only mowed the yard twice but everything else on the mower is very nice and working fine so far. I added options for the run hour timer, arm backrests, recycler/mulcher, towing bracket, deck lift assist and cover.

Nice review. Way too big and bulky and too expensive. I have no idea how Milwaukee can say these are designed for electricians when they have no electrical insulation rating. The need to send it back to Milwaukee annually for recalibration is a deal killer. However, in a production assembly environment I can definitely see where they could be of value.
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 4 жыл бұрын
Big and bulky, yes... But if you have an engine on a stand, it does not matter and would save motion. Most digital torque wrenches will tell you to send them back for recalibration annually also, but they do not countdown the number of uses. I understand your point 100 percent and it will be useful, or a gamechanger for some, not for all.

If you are an Industrial Electrician most of your Tools (Torque Wrenches, and and all Fluke Meters, Spectrum Analyzers Test Equip, etc, etc) have to be Re-Calibrated on an Annual basis anyways. Most Co.panies plan for this by having a Spare Set of everything that has to Calinrated, or they put thing on a Schedule to where there is only 1 set at a time out for Calibration. I worked in the Telecom I industry for 25 years, and built over 1000 large DC Power Plants with huge Battery backup, and every single connection has to be torqued, and recorded. I would've loved to have had these then.

Buying cheap tools and not knowing. Kept me from having quality tools. Know your tool history. Please.

Too fast for automotive Too expensive when comparing to Snap-Off No angle, in this day of age? If this is obviously NOT a mechanics tool... but they are they advertising to mechanics during there official expo booth? Milwaukee they missed the mark on this.

Lol… I must use the wrong electricians. I’ve never once seen them use a torque wrench.

This is absolutely crap. Its too cumbersome, expensive and had no angle capacity. Norbar of England is the benchmark for industry.
