Nice, short and sweet. Great video. I am testing my 3/8 stubby out right now and It is my work horse too. I still am happy that I went with the decision to go with the 3/8 drive. I have the high torque 1/2 inch model and I enjoy not having to swap sockets. I also use a 3/8 drive ratchet 99% of the time. This is the main reason I went with the 3/8 stubby. I already have a huge selection of sockets and I wont have to carry 1/2 inch and 3/8 versions of the sockets while in working. I also have the 3/9 m12 ratchet but prefer the stubby to the ratchet.

Yeah, something tells me the 3/8" is more suitable for it's compact size & power... but all my impact sockets are 1/2". My boss has one of these and I am honestly considering to replace my old heavy DeWalt. He can walk around sites with this thing on his belt loop, it's amazingly light & compact.

Got about dozen M12 tools and five M18 tools. For the most part they are very, very good tools but the 1/2 drive Stubby and the M12 2454-20 3/8 drive impact (so good for tight access in engine bay) are by far my favorite tools by far. I got so much work done with them. Even if they crapped out tomorrow I would still buy them again although they still have bit over 3 years left on their warranty. The batteries have also performed unbelievably well. The performance doesn't seem to have tapered off at all and they last just as long as when they were new.

I got the 1/2" gun and a Matco reducing extension for smaller stuff where a 1/2" socket or extension would interfere. It's super versatile. I have the 18v high torque too, but seldom use it anymore because this is so light and pulls lug nuts off cars as fast as the 18v gun (the high torque is much more powerful, but max RPMs are slower after the fastener breaks free.) I do wish they could make it a tad narrower to avoid having to use swivel adapters, while still keeping the same power. Hint Hint, Milwaukee. Please keep up the innovation for mechanics tools.

TTchannel the 3/8... I was trying to loosen the bolts for the driveshaft because it was such an awkward spot. I used non-impact rated sockets (with an extension) but I didn’t think it would damage the tool. I held the trigger on the bolt for maybe about 2-3 seconds and felt wild vibrations from the tool. Then all of a sudden it lost like 90% power and felt like the gears were grinding inside

It's good that smaller tools are finally becoming the norm. how come you don't use the rubber sleeve protector thing for it? btw I never really use my stubby 3/8 for wheels and bigger stuff constantly because it's so powerful and tends to beat up the socket drive. Would you recommend this impact for someone who will really only be doing tire rotation and brake/caliper jobs? My automotive skills are limited but I do enjoy having good tools. The options I'm considering are the M12 stubby or the ridgid octane impact as they are roughly the same price. I'm in both battery lines already. My considerations are power vs size and considering that you had to use a universal joint to get behind the calipers anyway, I was wondering if it would be better to go for the ridgid and invest in some universal sockets instead. Or is the ridgid still just too big even with the universals? Thanks for your time, and apologies for the long winded question.

@HowtoAutomotive 4 жыл бұрын
Jayjayhooks No I would recommend the mid to work for tires and brakes and suspension work. They make it in the 3/8 or 1/2. The mid torque is much more suitable for tires and brakes. It has double the power and just slightly larger than the stubby.

@@HowtoAutomotive Do you think it would have made a different if you use the 6.0ah battery on removing some of the tougher bolts? Also any difference between the 3/8" and 1/2" ? They both have the same specs. If you get a chance a video on removing bolt with both battery (4.0 ah vs 6.0 ah) comparison would be great. Now it would be nice to see the difference between the 3/8" vs 1/2" stubby using the same batteries (4.0ah vs 6.0ah). Thanks for the video update on this stubby. Michael C The only difference between the 3/8 and 1/2 is the anvil. All the torque specs are exactly the same. 250 breakaway 250 tightening. the 1/2" version won't fit all your sockets. everyone ALWAYS has more 3/8" sockets, ALWAYS. Don't bother with the 1/2", just get an adapter if you don't already have one. STICK WITH 3/8" man, you won't regret it. If you can afford it buy both, but I don't know why you would unless you are pulling crankshaft bolts or harmonic balancer bolts. You can rip lugnut off cars with this thing like it's nobody's business.
