A rare interview with one of the most beloved couples in soap opera: Holly and Roger from Guiding Light. (Soap Opera Weekly on Video, 1994).

If Michael Zaslow lived at least another decade and a year till the final episode, I would liked to see him (Roger) and Holly finally rekindle their relationship and he became a total good loving down to earth person that would be a big surprising to the audience.

Got hooked on Guiding Light back in 78. Holly and Roger WERE Guiding Light. You left us way too soon, Mike. :-(

It is absolutely sad to think that Michael Zaslow would be dead just four years after this interview. :(

If this information is accurate, I think the producers of GL or the sponsor P & G treated Michael Zaslow beyond detestable when he became a victim of such a debilitating illness as Lou Gehrig's disease. I admire that OLTL hired him to work as a character who was experiencing all the trauma one goes through with such an illness. I believe he had support from fellow actors Robin Strasser and Brynn Thayer from OLTL.

Oh my goodness, this beautiful, sweet interview is so powerfully tragic viewing it now. Where will Roger and Holly be in five years? They muse of their being together, because apart isn’t possible. Not for the characters or for the actors. Just plain unfair. I’m glad they both saw hope in Roger and Holly, even imagining them capable of growing enough to remarry and have another child. I think their personal love and faith in humanity came through in how they portrayed their two very damaged characters and is why viewers had such a fascination with Roger and Holly and a desire for them to be together.

What a great interview! Roger and Holly were magic. I've been watching the early 90's eps - amazing stuff. These two were so good together. So sorry Michael is gone and Maureen is off the canvas. *sigh* Wish they would air these great old shows again.

I loved Roger and Holly in 1994.. It was a lousy idea to break them up. Fletcher and Holly were an absolute bore as a couple. They had no chemistry at all. Whoever decided to put them together made an horrendous mistake. How ever if MZ had lived, Roger and Holly might've reconciled. It makes me sad to think about what could've been.

À lot of people blame Jill Farren Phelps for the downfall of GL. However when Megan Mctavish was headwriter she stated in an interview that she was determined to keep Roger and Holly apart. She was selfish and didn't seem to care how fans felt about that.

Roger and Holly is the reason I became hooked on GL in the early 90's. When MZ was wrongly terminated from the show due to his illness, I lost interest for the program and respect for the executives in charge that wronged him after 25 years of loyalty to Guiding Light

@@jacktheman2895 Megan M. was also the same writer that killed off Nadine in a gruesome fashion. I never got over that. But credit where credit's due... JFP had the decency to bring Michael on to OLTL when his illness left him motionless. I know she gets a lot of flack, but that was the one good thing that she actually did.

Loved when asked if they could imagine being on GL without each other and Michael responding "No, it's written in my contract". Love these two and I agree they really didn't have much time as a couple. My all time favorite couple Roger and Holly! Outstanding Chemistry They were so comfortable together. Miss Michael Zaslow and Guiding Light! Will Guiding Light ever be released on dvd, cause I would love to own those years of Roger and Holly !!

I know this was 9 years ago but I still have to comment. The love between those 2 is so sweet. With that said, exploring Holly as a lesbian would made sense. Accepting the forced relationship with Ed and Roger. But she was young and maybe only saw those 2 options. Just a thought
