I lost count of how many times you mentioned your Mama's garden is your "favorite". Considering all the gardens you and Jerry create and nurture, that's quite a compliment. On the rare occasion when our daughter can leave her farm to visit "Home House" I notice she comes down our long, back drive slowly, she stands and surveys all she sees before letting her dogs out of the truck, then she takes a garden tour before coming inside to call out , "Mama I am home, let's have tea in the garden!" During the times when she just cannot get home, I regularly send her photos around the garden or, of a specific shrub in all it's glory and quite often, the view from my hammock up through the branches of my centuries old oak to the blue skies beyond. I have come to understand her " Mama's Garden" represents love, joy, security, solace, and beauty. Somehow, in the magic of gardens, I think all "Mama's Gardens" have this power to dissolve anxiety and stress and bathe the gardener's children in peace and comfort beyond measure. I have no doubt God placed we mortals in a garden for just these reasons. I could not be more grateful !!!

Jenny your Momma reminds me so much of my Momma and her gardens. She rooted and divided everything just like your Momma does. She had a mailbox for tools too. I learned so much from her. When I was a young gardener she used to say my sister and I planted our flowers using a ruler. She had beautiful gardens. I miss her so much but she is with me in the garden.

What a wonderful inspiration your mama is! You just gave me Hope & reminded me, It takes time! I had been gardening for 40 years and had gotten to that point but then we moved from NJ to southern Virginia. Leaving my gardens 💔 Now, new zone, different soil & weather, overgrown areas & starting over. THANK YOU MIMI & JENNY for showing me I can do it again! ❤❤❤ P.S. Finally someone who knows what to do about voles. I have asked local garden centers and other gardeners and nobody knows what to do. I have tried everything that I have read online and never came across those baskets. Here in zone eight Southern California mountains it eats all of the ornamental grasses especially the blue fescue.
