You should add a toggle switch to jump the fx loop connection when you aren't using it.

Is there a way to have the signal run through the pedal until you freeze a chord? So when a chord is frozen, all other playing is muted until it is unfrozen...?

i’ve been trying for weeks to add an expression jack but every time i turn it on the LED starts flashing. I don’t know what to do! pls help!
@mimmotronics4 жыл бұрын
I've had a problem with the LED flashing before, I believe that happens when the chassis is shorted with the +5V line. I think there's some voltage detection circuitry that tells the DSP when that happens as a form of voltage protection. If you're trying to install an expression jack, chances are there is positive power coming into contact with the chassis or ground of the circuit board. Hope this helps.

I would also like to know if they'll bring it back and why they decided to discontinued it Mimmotronics, any chance of offering mod plans for sale; it would be really helpful for diy'ers and overseas folks and could be a small additional revenue stream

@@seaserpentsdelight Hi Elliot, Thanks for commenting! Sorry I'm getting to this so late! I have been thinking of ways to provide a rehousing option for a Freeze FX Loop Mod lately. Hi - thanks for this. I love my Freeze pedal and got thinking about improvements, so it's cool to see you've already tackled some of these. One problem I have is that I'm hard-wired to hit the pedal on the beat, on the 1 if you like, and as you know that can give variable results and volume levels. I just can't seem to make myself press the pedal slightly after the beat! So my thought was I need to introduce a tiny delay (1/10th second?) between pressing the pedal and it actually sampling the instrument's sound. If my multimeter is correct, I'm seeing just under 3.3V across the two wires under the switch - and when I press the switch it drops to 0V - so I figure I need to delay the dropping of the voltage to 0V - perhaps using a 555 timer chip, or similar? Would this be the right way to go? Thanks
@mimmotronics4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob, Thanks for watching! You could build a (monostable?) multivibrator out of a 555 and use the switch to trigger it. You'll have to worry a bit about switch debounce. Also, that switch is connected directly to one of the pins on the main DSP chip, so be careful you don't damage the pin with static discharge or by accidentally driving it with too much current. I also wouldn't hook up the output of the 555 directly to the board. Instead, there are analog switch ICs you can purchase where you can drive it with a logic signal from the 555 to operate. The "switch terminals" on the IC would then connect to where the switch wires are currently connected. Theres also using a transistor-as-a-switch method, which may work, but id rather stick to something "passive" like the analog IC. I'm interested in getting this work myself...haha, feel free to email me. -Mimmo

Some interesting stuff going on here man. Got a question for you though - when you opened up the pedal did you happen to see/have any idea what the CON3 five-pin connector might be for? I’m wondering if there’s some kind of tweak possible involving that.

1 year late on this, but that 5-pin connector is for programming the DSP chip. Not much worth doing there unfortunately

@@areminderofwhatweare Lol I mean, if you have the software to program it and if EHX hasn't locked the chip for writing over its code, there is a possibility of reprogramming it. Would love to see someone try that out, even if it ends up being a flop!
