In gastrulation, all three germ layers are produced from the epiblast. The cells of the epiblast burrow in to form the endo and mesoderms. The epiblast becomes the ectoderm. The hypoblast is displaced and continues to be part of the yolk sac - It does NOT contribute to the endoderm. Just commenting here to save this point, and to mark the video. Ty Dr Minass.

Thank you very much! I'm starting my second year of Naturopathic Medical school in Illinois. It's extremely intense and fast paced. This was a very easy simple understandable way to explain this process. I especially like how you started from the beginning - (sperm & egg). It's easier to follow when you know where everything is coming from (the whole process), rather than bullet points of the stages. You do a great job explaining the whole process in a simple way. Thanks!

Hi! I had a question. Earlier you said that above the endoderm we had the amnionic cavity, but in the little quick review thingie after the development of the three germ layers, you drew the amnionic cavity above the ectoderm. Also, when you're showing the neural fold formation, you say it's developed from the ectoderm, right? Sooo, is this ectoderm closer to the yolk sac/ endometrial lining, or is it the layer deeper into the uterine wall as compared to the endoderm? I'd appreciate if you could answer!
