He found out that his mother supposedly didn't even wanted to give birth to him. He had a good reason to hate the whole world. He gone through so many assassins attacks that he got to the point where killing his enemy is the only thing that brought him a relief. It's beyond fucked up. Another detail overlooked by everyone is his inability to sleep. Gamabunta stated that it took a great part in making him completely unstable. He also was in heart pain all the time. Overall the breaking point of his life was almost as bad as Sasuke but Sasuke at least experienced 7 years of proper childhood. Gaara, just like Naruto, had none and he was way more hated and ostracized than Naruto was. I like Sasuke the most but when Kishimoto was writing Gaara's past I feel it was like "what else can I do to mess him up even further?".

But honestly, the whole damn show is FILLED TO THE BRIM with tragedy. That's what makes Boruto feel so much less impactful, it just doesn't have enough tragedy in it. Boruto as a character may be kinda badass and cool, but he really just doesn't have enough pain in his life. Not compared to his dad. The saddest part of his life is a father who's not around enough. That's certainly a relatable thing, but Naruto just straight up had no parents at all, and didn't even know what they looked like or sounded like until he was like 17 years old. If it had been in a less fantastical world, he would never have even met them at all.

Garaa is like 5 and he was driven mad by his father and not being able to sleep...people forget that Garaa couldn't sleep, so in average if a human doesn't get 7 hours of sleep at least our cognitive function drops by 20ish% now imagine never sleeping longer then a hour for 5 years...

I got Gaara’s kanji tattoo on my left arm mainly because he became a top favourite of my anime characters list and because his backstory and his evolution from being a vengeful psychopathic killer to now becoming not only a changed person because of Naruto but also the Kazekage of The Hidden Sand. I don’t get emotional like that watching shows but looking at Gaara’s backstory had me both angry and crying for him, just how his own father tried to kill him, the one person he loved didn’t love him the same way he did and the entire village hated him 😢
