I never try to compare one to another because they are not supposed to be the same. I do, however, know which I like better. It's always Geoff and/or Voiceplay. Every time. We've seen snippets or clues of both of their songs for April. Be forewarned!!

As a contralto I'm drawn to lower voices but I'm loving hearing more of Geoff's range. The background music/percussion just ramps up the intensity and that Eb4 in the last verse is awesome!

love this version I did listen to disturbed version since everyone talked about it and I hadn’t heard it. I think to be fair I will need to listed to the disturbed one a few more times it didn’t do that much for me first time round.❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I was considerably younger 😏when I fell in love with Simon and Garfunkel’s version. Actually I fell in love with pretty much everything they did. So I was a little apprehensive because I knew it would be significantly different. But the fact that it’s so different means I can enjoy both versions as well as appreciate the one by Disturbed although it’s not to my personal taste- I grew up with too much anger to enjoy it. I think it’s a wise choice on his part to have the BGV’s‘s by his clones but not show them. It just adds to that sense of solitude and almost desolation. Perhaps it’s because I suffer from depression but I didn’t see it as a walk in the forest although I wish I did. For me it was more of being in a dark tunnel and coming out into the sunlight when rock god Geoff showed up.

I was 10 when Simon & Garfunkel wrote and sang this song. My granddaughter linked me to Disturbeds' cover when they released it, Blew my mind. Now Geoff's is my favorite. I'll let you do the math on my age. hehe.

It’s not really fair to compare Geoff’s solo work to acapella, since it never is. He spends hours searching for just the right sounding instruments to include, whether it be an older piano (Till Then) or just the right drums. While he usually shows his ‘clones’ doing their background vocals, he has gone completely solo before. If you haven’t heard High and Dry yet you should run (not walk) to do so. He says that’s the favorite song he’s ever done.

But you can compare to other covers in general. IMHO Geoff's version eclipses even composition and sound scape wise the Disturbed one.
