I see GM is just a tool to use to help a person determine what works for them as far as food and what they should avoid. Those of us on Carnivore who are doing strictly elimination don't really have to worry about it but for some people who are diabetic and are doing Keto this would come in handy so I wouldn't necessarily say she's promoting the medical Industrial complex.

2 thoughts. One the CGN does not test insulin. I would be curious if the beef and milk scenario the insulin spiked higher therefore dropping the blood glucose quicker. Second it does not test ketone. It is possible you blood sugar is low but ketones high. So we can not just look at glucose numbers. You would need some symptoms with it. My 2 cents.

You are right about ketones . I used to faint easily if my blood sugar got low felt bad. Since going keto now carnivore my blood sugars can go much lower as I make ketones. I feel great this happens when i am fasting. Before I could not fast because I would faint.Yes i tested glucose and ketones. Took me months on keto before I could make ketones I am 62 feel better than I did as a high ‘heathy carb’ lots of fruits and vegetables lean ‘healthy meat.I take zero medication even in allergy season. I listen to my own body. I don’t have to test myself much anymore I stay carnivore with some keto.

Good Video - I consider raw milk, eggs and meat to be superfoods. Like many of the old students of "physical culture", the Legendary, George Hackenshmidt in his book, "The way to live", said he drank about 11 pints of raw milk a day. In his early days as a champion Weightlifter!

@@robertgoldstein52 Sadly, George Hackenshmidt and in his book the way to live, recommended a vegetarian raw plant diet. And apparently he ate that in his later years, which is when he published his books after he retired from sports. And by the pictures in his book, he looked a lot older and like a lot of body builders - gained a lot of fat and lost a lot of muscle - after they retired from their sports life - The excuse in those days was that they were getting older!

I've seen some things that suggest that your body can get used to "abnormal" blood sugars. On low carb, your numbers can be in the hypoglycemic but your body can handle it fine. My wife, a registered dietician, had a patient that showed signs of being hypoglycemic when their blood sugars got down to 300. It's really interesting how much bioindividualality there is.

When I was pregnant, I couldn’t do the three hour glucose test because it made me violently ill, every single time I tried to do it so they had me test my blood sugars with the prick and the glucose monitor, four times a day, when I woke up and then two hours after every meal and I had the biggest spikes when I accidentally ate foods that I’m allergic to.

Very interesting. I'm a type 2 diabetic who has reversed to prediabetic levels thanks to eating low carb and wearing a CGM about once a month. The only caveat I'd share for diabetics is that some things trigger more than what you all experienced. Potatoes are bad for me. Rice is terrible. Some fruits are way worse for me as well...grapes--terrible, blackberries, bueno. Appreciate all your nutrition advice. I'd never made the connection between high fat meats helping to offset over a lean protein. 😊

Why don’t you water fast for 3 days? It cures your type 2 permanently as long as you don’t eat completely rubbish afterwards. Or strict carnivore diet for two weeks, also cures type 2, permanently if you eat reasonably afterwords.

Hi Lilly. I have been wanting to wear a cgm for quite awhile but seemed like a hassle to get one until I watched your video and used your link. Half way thru my one month subscription now and learning so much about myself. Really is helping me fine tune my diet and is great motivation to stay on course. I’ve experimented quite a bit with foods I knew would likely be bad. I noticed a direct correlation between spikes on the monitor and feeling like shit, so just more motivation to not put something bad in my mouth. 2 weeks to go. Gonna be a little sad to give it up but the thing is expensive! Perhaps in the near future a non prescription alternative will be available at a price everyone can afford? No…..probably not! Things big food and big pharmaceutical don’t want us to know. ☹️🙈

Just a note for other videos going forward. The scientific term for high and low blood sugar which I believe you know. High is hyperglycemic and low is hypoglycemic. That's more accurate than being a type 2 diabetic or type 1 diabetic because people have those responses even if they aren't diabetic. Great video! Being a type 2 diabetic I personally use total carbohydrates because my body reacts to fiber even if it doesn't stay in my body. My guess is the soluble fiber still spikes it.

This is really interesting! I'd also like to see the effect on insulin levels - I used to have really bad reactive hypoglycemia after eating a lot of carbohydrates (my blood sugar levels dropped to 30 one time I was tested) and the nurses were surprised that giving me more carbs didn't help. I had an eating disorder at the time though so my muscle mass was very low. When I did the Fast Tract Diet (for IBS/GERD) I also learnt that carbs with a higher glycemic index are usually easier to digest as they are less likely to be fermented by bacteria in the gut, so unfortunately carbs that don't spike glucose as much are more likely to cause digestive symptoms. A big reason I went low carb is because carbs that didn't spike glucose generally triggered my IBS!

Before starting my fasted blood sugar would be around 220-240. My doc put me on 750mg of metformin and i began to diet and exercise more. One week after staring meds and combining with low carb high protein my fasted blood glucose was ranging from 90 to 115. About a month in I've tested at around 80-90 in a fasted state. I'm about a month out from doing my 3 month blood work since I started meds and a better diet. I'll update when I get the results back.

What wasn't discussed in this video, are those that are insulin resistant. Perhaps a good thing to do, before a whole lot of people that are pre-diabetic watch this and come away with a misconception, is to bring insulin into the picture, which wasn't even mentioned. Hi Lillie, first I have to compliment you for the evolution you did in the years 👏👏 I appreciate your work! Referring o the fact that consuming milk drops blood sugar levels quite a lot for your husband, have you considered that it could be due to the fact that milk is insulinogenic (without spiking glucose). Therefore the release of insuline is higher so that glucose level drops significantly? What do you think about it? I’m wondering about this🤔 Thank you

Loved this! Very helpful… thinking a lot of poo was a good thing. I guess it’s not that simple, however since I am eating way more protein and fat I see a lot less… (poo). At first I was worried, no pain or bloating though. I’m still not able to eat the suggested amounts of protein for my target weight, but I’m close. I’m feeling so satisfied every day and not ravenous in the morning (IF 16:8). This channel is extremely helpful, ty Lillie :) 👍🏻

My husband drank three glasses of milk everyday (one for breakfast, one for lunch, one for dinner) because he wanted to put on weight. At about six months he developed asthma and he was 60 years old at the time. We always wondered if the milk had anything to do with it

Lillie - I've run similar 'tests' - several times over the past year+ --- it's fascinating data and so empowering. My biggest spike was after eating small bag of corn chips! Bad choice, but I was traveling and curious ... I don't ever do this as a carnivore, but in my previous life, chips & salsa were my biggest weakness. I was heard someone, can't recall who, sorry ... but they said "no naked carbs, ever" --- love that concept. Keep up the excellent work - your videos are wonderful. You're an excellent editor :)

i think the lowering of blood glucose when adding milk to the meal is more to do with Milk being insulogenic inducing Glut4 reception, and less to do with it raising blood sugar..

Thank you for doing this video. It just goes to show that there can be surprises as to how an individual body will respond to various foods. I would like to get a CGM for both my husband and I and not go through a doctor. Are they one-time use? In other words, do you apply it, use it for a while, then throw it in the trash? How long can you leave it applied? Can one person use it and then by replacing the lancet, apply it to another person?

It's a one time use. NutriSense offers different packages (one month, 3 month, 6 month, 12 month). The one month means you would have 2 CGMs come in the mail and you wear one for 2 weeks and then take it out and put the second one in for 2 weeks. You would not be able to pull your needle out and put it in your husband. Here is the website with more information and my discount code for $50 off is LillieKane: nutrisense.io/lillie

I would be interested in the results with white rice after it has be refrigerated for 12-24 hours. Not sure if your rice test was fresh out the rice cooker.

It was rice that had been just cooked but I should have tested rice from the fridge as I heard it spikes even less ☺️

Cooled or reheated rice contains fewer carbohydrates than freshly cooked rice because of the presence of the resistant starch that is slowly digested in the body. The number of other nutrients is also changed to a small extent, including the reduction in the carb level of the rice. It is always advised for diabetic people not to consume freshly cooked rice. Instead, they should allow it to cool for some time, refrigerate it, and then reheat the rice for consumption. The nutrient amounts are reduced to small units for the cooled rice compared to the fresh rice.@@t-rozbenouameur5304

Awesome video, Lillie 😊 thank you! I would really love to do these self tests as well. I highly doubt that we already have this option here in Germany since it's a fairly new thing to be able to do that, even in the US. The milk thing with Bryce is really funny 😂 does he know if his ancestry has anything to do with dairy? I recently wondered if there is a chance that bread and flour are actually not something I have to avoid (apart from GMO and Glyphosate 😅) because my last name indicates that my family line probably produced flour some time way back. Who knows 🙈 would be funny to know. Maybe someday! Keep up the great content. You look very fluffy with your white fluffy pullover in front of white fluffy pillows. This reminds me of the cute sheep I met today on my walk 🥹🐏🐑

I tried the animal based diet for a while (with around 150-200g of carbs from fruit) and i started getting heart palpitations and extreme dizzy spells after a few weeks at night and after meals, turns out my blood sugar is constantly around 70 mg/dL fasted and high glycemic carbs keep giving me hypoglycemia because my insulin keeps pushing my blood sugars down to around 70 after each meal. I am not sure if this is insulin sensitivity or resistance, i live a very healthy lifestyle as well and go to the gym 5 times a week but insulin resistance from sugary carbs can be a genetic predisposition. Keep an eye out for this as you increase your carb intake.

Funny, 5+ years carnivore and I wore one of those, finished 3 days ago and I also had the low sugar while I was sleeping. As soon as I got up it gets higher though so I'm happy with that :) I ate loads of sugar for 4 days and only went above into the diabetic range twice, once when I had a cup of instant soup (chicken & corn) and another time when I did a glucose tolerance test with 75g glucose in water. I did pass the tolerance test.
