Amazingly enough, I literally explained this to my mother when I was 7. I asked her why does space and time just continue forever? Perplexed, she looked at me and said "what do you mean?" I began to tell her how to me at least, it seemed that in order for anything to "be", it must then be inside of something else, and if that is true, then time is just forever. Just because nobody is around to record time, doesn't mean it is not going on.

Yes, it’s always now, and that fact is simple and profound, but this doesn’t make the sense of a _flow of time_ a misapprehension or misinterpretation. Music and spoken language, to name just two examples, are possible only because there’s an underlying/unifying cohesion that strings together distinct sounds to form greater wholes (e.g., notes-->melody-->song; consonants/vowels-->words-->sentences). Same with any ‘object’ of perception or conception: it exists _now_ , but there’s an underlying enduringness that seems to string that object’s now + now + now together into a sense of temporal flow, and thus, an _experience_ of time. Time and timelessness each has its reality, and aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. In fact, Rupert’s statement at 8:49 that “nevertheless, there is a place where eternity and time intersect” might even be a tacit acknowledgment of this.

the truth is, we know close to nothing about everything. These great mysteries will remain unsolved I think. Even AI may not be able to figure it out, and even if it did, maybe we wouldnt understand. infinity, eternity, not existing, something outside of time, these things we cannot comprehend. Maybe we never will like I said. We have a fear of the unknown, naturally. Now, this fear of eternity/infinity, is deeper even. It's an awareness of sorts, at least that is what we want to think. But as we DONT KNOW the truth, we cannot see it as an awareness. We have to see it as a waste of time, in a way, since it can cause many of us panic attacks and worse. So the phobia is this: we are living now. But when we die, what happens? do you exist forever in darkness, or in "heaven", do you reincarnate forever, do you stop existing forever? None of these things we know, no one knows. Whoever claims to know is lying or believing in something THEY DONT KNOW. That is the fear. It is the knowledge we think we have, but since we dont know about it for sure, we just speculate, then its a waste of our mental health to get deep into it. ITs not about forgetting it, since its hard and may come back. Its about giving less importance and claiming back control, and admitting we dont know it, and being fine with it. Just focus on life. I know, maybe hard. But there is little alternative.

Yeah, I manage to forget about it years ago but it's coming back now. I think you're right about giving less importance to it and stop humoring the thought, although it seems my mind is not able to accept it yet. Little by little I tried to expose myself to the fear itself for the most part I don't feel dread as strong as it use to be, but I still have this uneasy feeling. We can't see nor comperhend eternity, but one thing I know for sure that I can do something about the fear itself.

Eternity's Dream --------------------------------- I am roaming the desert beneath the tapestry of stars. I gaze at the night sky and realize: I am the stars gazing back at me. I stare deeply into the expressionless white-eyed womb of Eternity. I now enter a state of consciousness that knows the oneness of all. Now I am the diamond - not any one facet. I am the diamond - the oneness of all. I am no longer the fragmented mind of a man. I am now Eternity observing my SELF - one of the denizens of Eternity's dream. But it is not a switch of perspective. It is what it is. The oneness of all and the denizens of its dream. And the process repeats in a timeless existence. Like a mirror within a mirror within another. I stare deeply into the expressionless white-eyed womb of Eternity. I am not my SELF anymore but only the oneness of all. But nothing changes in Eternity. There never is a change of perspective. It is what it is. There still is my SELF and Eternity, The oneness of all and the denizens of its dream. I am roaming the desert beneath the tapestry of stars.

when you talk about apparency of time it would be easier to understand if you used a concept of change and space: space is a clear empty medium for objects to appear. they change in that space and relate to each other in continous transformation which we see as time. the step further: you who is able to observe that must be space in order to observe it. Because you do see time you must be still, changeless... space. everything that you see can not be you... but the joke of it is that there is nothing and no other else there but you alone. everything IS you... mental aerobics in the morning :)) haha

@James Norris an infinite amount of time is still dependent upon time yet the properties of the anthropomorphic patriarchal good are beyond time and not affected by time. The question is, can anything exist in our realm or an alternative realm that are beyond the constraints of time?
@wiscokiddd5 жыл бұрын
@James Norris I believe our universe does have infinite properties. Numbers although they require cognizance are infinite, there is no largest number. Space or distance at least within thought are infinite. Even if there were a big bang or some beginning of space or end to space an imaginary line can extend past that limit if there were one. Space or place only has three axis, x,y,z. So when people talk about another dimension it is a misnomer but that does not mean there are not other basic properties such as time space and matter that are not local or present in our realm, our physical reality or as we know it. Although philosophy as in the determination or as a basis of what we believe has two schools, foundationalism and coherentism, which both consider infinitism to be regression, I disagree, there are an infinite number of arguments to a debate of truth and logic, I think infinitism is a beginning to a deeper understanding.
