Hey, here from S.A Australia, went on a trip to America with my mum and sister back in April 2011, my sister and I went to Galaxyland for the day, we rode the Mindbender twice. was seriously fun and awesome, it has been ticked off of my bucketlist. Was such an epic day in the theme park and the Water park. On that, would you consider doing a park view of the water park next door, along with the other rides from Galaxyland?

It's interesting - back in around 2012-2013 (I was 12) my brothers and I spent the day at West Ed, and of course we went to Galaxyland and rode Mindbender. Afterwards, when I was telling my dad about it, he mentioned the crash. I was really curious to learn more about it, so I did a bunch of research about it, and then the whole topic of ride incidents just got my attention. I spent the next year and a bit looking into various ride accidents (may rideaccidents.com rest in peace) and eventually, I wanted to get a better grasp on rides in general, which is how I found out about coaster enthusiasts online and eventually got to where I am today as an enthusiast. So basically, the GP never shutting up about the crash is how I became an enthusiast in the first place. I mean, it still doesn't make it any less frustrating when they completely condemn the ride because of the incident though.

The reason for the “accordion” restraint isn’t because of people falling out, it’s to keep riders from leaning down and straining yourself in the intense g segments of the ride. Also, Olympia Looping ALWAYS had these style of restraints for the same reason, sans the bulkier lapbar and seatbelts.
@dolovo_gaming30815 жыл бұрын
The lap bar is quite small on the olympia looping , the shoulder restraints are quite annoying since they come down. But that is only noticable if you are in the brake run.
@djavatar685 жыл бұрын

Did you notice the design of the cars? They each have their own independent set of wheels, they do not lean on each other. The trains were originally four cars and they were reduced to 3 cars long when replaced to create space and room in the weight budget for the extra set of wheels on each car as well as the additional safety restraints. Also, in general I find that Americans complain about rollercoasters in Canada as being rough... but nobody in Canada complains. I'm not sure why that happens other than possibly less investment in Canada means we're accustomed to expecting older rougher rides. Consider Wonderland, there are A LOT of rough rollercoaseters there.
@coastaku19542 жыл бұрын
And a lot of people who's home park is Wonderland thinks our coasters are rough, myself included. Everyone calls Mighty Canadian Minebuster: Spinebuster. Sadly a lot of people think Flight Deck, our SLC, is a good ride... The more people who think that, the more sad I get...
@thekandycinema31935 жыл бұрын
I live in Edmonton and have been to Galaxyland so many times as I used to work there. Most I could ever go on Mindbender in one day was twice and I had to space out the rides. You're totally right about it exhausting you. Mindbender actually used to have just the lap bar before the accident. The only reason why they got added was for PR. Riders feel safer with more restraints even if it's completely unnecessary for actual protection.
@aleksice-cream25454 жыл бұрын

Thank you! Finally someone who has given this coaster the praise it deserves. If you are taller like me sitting in the front of the car actually gives you a little more space for your knees. Also front row on the left is the best seat on the forward trains. The back I find to be a little more jerky which makes the restraints affect the ride a bit more. If you do get a chance to ride it backwards the last row on the left is the place to be. I'm not sure why but I actually find that sitting backwards is smoother and the restraints don't affect the experience at all. Great content as always eh. Love the channel keep having fun with it!

One thing I like about this ride is that you don't have to pay to go into the amusement park. That walkway through the third loop is literally just one of the mall entrances from the parking lot. You can just head in and buy a ride on the coaster (or check it out close up if you're unsure if you want to go on it or not) then head on your way somewhere else if none of the other rides interest you (for those that don't know the mall also has a large water park, an ice rink, sea lion shows, mini golf, hotel, etc).

My experience was similar to yours, you really do feel physically drained after riding it. You really need at least a few minutes in between rides to recover. It can be a giant model, a standard couple loops couple turns, a bit useage of the terrain...I'd love to ride this beast. I'd probably be the same way as you, I'd love it but not want to ride it probably past 4-5 times. Maybe not just over the intensity but the shoulder restraints I mean if they were normal shoulder restraints. They put like, togo restraints on it. aka something that shouldn't exist. Also another Swchwarzkopf named Mind Bender? Hm, then again, like every wooden coaster used to be jackrabbit and wild cat.
