as a teen, this was my favorite episode for the lines. -i am a gigantic brain -now i am to leave earth, for no raisin -the big brain am winning again the writers really knew how to write really dumb lines, which they usually give to Fry.

This episode starts what I like to call “the fry trilogy”, along with “Roswell that ends well” and “the why of fry”. All the episodes feel nicely connected, and they’re one of the only examples of an actual story arc in futurama.

Well, I'd argue the relationship with Leela is an arc throughout the show with a payoff in the end. Also, the feature length episodes arc off each other.

@@leok7193 Good point, but the leela/fry arc felt a bit messy throughout the show, especially when the show went down the “will they won’t they” route. Plus season 6 doesn’t really count because the episodes were originally movies lol

The weird noise emitted by The Hypnotoad was a sound file called "angry machine" and it was originally just put in as a placeholder until they could decide what kind of sound a hypnotoad would make. They eventually concluded that they liked the placeholder so much, they should just leave it that way. The Hypnotoad became an instant fan favorite.

The more you watch, the more you'll see how carefully the writers layed out some plot points. A lot of things were carefully planned, and yes, Fry's importance in the survival of the universe is tied to it. Great stuff.

Fry is revealed to have "a special mind." The battle of minds takes place at...the library. A trip through literature yields a solution...Fry's badly written story, as the Nibblonians "clean up the mess."
