I noticed that my mindset changed a lot ever since I started journaling everyday. I practice daily gratitude and affirmation in my journal, together with some new journaling prompts each day. It’s magical how my mood and mindset can shift so much with a few consistent days of journaling. Your new year reset series has inspired me to reflect and reframe my mindset. Hope to see the next 2 videos soon! Thanks for being my role model 💕

hi rowena! i wanted to share that i followed this worksheet end of 2022 and kinda forget about it. then i had a personal crisis mid year (it's a cycle truly), then reminded to recheck with my system. just did it right now at the end of august in time before last quarter of 2023. it's crazy that even though at the beginning i only choose 1 growth mindset to focus on (which i found no longer my biggest goal), i found my current biggest issue and the answer to said issue already been written from the other mindsets i've listed. it's like all the personal growth issue we have in life are probably around the same 5 challenges. so thank you truly! i forgotten how journaling and planning is a true self care. your worksheet and videos truly helped me prepare ahead, dig down through the wisdom i didn't know i own, and have them ready even when i didn't notice it yet :D

last year i planned to start fixing everything i can fix in me including my mindset but the transition to a new year proved to be difficult for me because i lost my two beloved cats and i got sick. i messed up the original plan and most especially i started the year with emotional breakdowns. and now as i am slowly regaining my energy and sanity (hopefully this will continue), this video came in the perfect time. Thank you, Rowena! I feel like i've got a sister who will help me to get through the rough times. ❤

You know the growth mindset helps a lot with my anxiety. I sometimes get sucked into the "I can't do it" hole especially when I'm faced with new things like for example at work. And I really dread them until I remember it's okay to learn things. And it's totally normal to not be good stuff that's new that's why you keep doing it to get better. So thanks for reminding me it actually helped me today. And I hope I'm able to remember this mindset more often.

I’m currently recovering from COVID and I really can’t be productive. Even though the symptoms aren’t that bad, I can feel this lack of energy. To people who feel like this all the time, I understand and I believe you should focus on your health first, both physical and emotional. You can’t optimize your productivity if you don’t have any energy left.
@NoneYa-pg6dk2 жыл бұрын
Rowena your advises has always been so encouraging. What I’ve come to learn is that it’s okay to be sad and upset and to not suppress those feelings but to find a healthy way to deal with it. The goal isn’t to be happy all the time because that’s not possible and to expect that from life will always end up disappointed. If you agree with this and have some knowledge, can you cover this topic?

As an artist my biggest fixed mindset is facing challenges and failure it’s all apart of being an artist with growth and improvement. And those where the two BIGGEST fixed mindset struggles for me. This video helped me to work through what I’m going to tell myself “I can try___” instead of “I can’t make that” that “failure” leads to growth and clarity to ask myself the simple questions of how I can improve this or ask feed back on my artwork ether way this video was VERY insightful and worth watching! Thank you for making this! Helped me figure out some deep issues and how I can grow from them ❤️

A problem with growth mindset is that people can get too hung up on the effort they have exerted while not recognizing that their output, skill level, or product is still substandard. I think a balance of the two is needed - effort matters, but in some fields there are objective standards that we have to meet in order to be acceptable.
@CrisTryingToBeProductive2 жыл бұрын
It could be seen as give as many activities as you want a try. Once you've dabbled a little bit, pick a few to focus and reach a certain level, that way your curiosity is satisfied and you feel fullfiled because you reach a goal. Dabbling for a long time in a lot of things may make you feel frustrated, specially if you're a goal-driven person, that needs achivements. P.S. I wasn't aware about how much I needed my own advice, it was really hard for me to focus in a couple of things this year.

There's actually an argument for being over becoming. The old koan, "Show me your face before your parents were born" summarizes this attitude. You don't need to become something better. Having the attitude that you need to become something better is just another story that covers up who you already are. This annoys me because I love the idea of becoming, hahaha. So I'm constantly debating these two things. The only way I resolve it is by saying: becoming is an aspect of being.
@jesskrikra2 жыл бұрын
Good point. I am also resolving it with "energy level". Becoming is an aspect of being - yes, but only if I have the energy left for growth. If, for any reason, I do not have enough energy for pushing myself, I maintain patient and grateful for who I am right now.
@kaimanialiah2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, this is so cool, such great insight. Thank you for sharing! I felt this conflict too but I realized wait,' Being' is a form of presence, and since everything happens in the NOW. The only way I can be ever-evolving, or 'becoming' is once I am 'being' in the present moment, now, here. Now, who says being has to be one thing, like the ocean our being can flow to be whoever and whatever we choose to think, be, and do.
@joshshortt95992 жыл бұрын
@@kaimanialiah Maybe a fixed mindset is more being stuck in the past as opposed to being in the present. For example: "I've always been this way so I can't change."
@kaimanialiah2 жыл бұрын
@@joshshortt9599 Oh totally, it makes so much sense. It could also be suppressed under the layer of not even realizing this is holding us back. In most cases how there are things people start deriving their identity from, say culture, religion, nationality...and remain stuck there...wow, this was such a nice interaction. Thank you!! Have a blessed day! :)

I have always had a fixed mindset, I hate doing things that I'm not good at, which is kinda everything. The one thing I have to point out is that intelligence is fixed though. IQ is something you're born with and no amount of trying and effort can change it. That doesn't mean you can't learn things you didn't know before or gain knowledge, but technically becoming more intelligent isn't possible.
@rowena2 жыл бұрын
nothing will be possible if we’ve already convinced ourselves otherwise. if you look into the main reason why the IQ test was created and give the Mindset book a skim, it could potentially change your mind 😬

WOW your coach was not a good coach. I don't blame you for coming away from that experience with a fixed mindset, since he said it in a fixed-mindset manner! Had he come to you months before tryouts and said something like "Right now you wouldn't make varsity. To get to that point by tryouts, we need to work on x, y, and z," then you would have come out of this with a growth mindset! It's good to reflect and make sure that you get the right lessons out of your experiences, and I'm not saying to take a victim mindset, but please don't beat yourself up for coming away from that with a fixed mindset! That's what your teacher taught you, and you learned it. I'm glad that you are unlearning it now.
