Great video! My wife and I have owned our Grizzly Bear Model (Rustic Trails Teardrops) for 3 years and we love it. Small campers are not for everyone. Here is why we went with the Grizzly: 1. We can tow it easily with our Toyota Highlander 2. It fits perfectly in our 2 car garage next to said Highlander so it is only in the weather when we are camping. This alone adds years of life to it. 3. It has everything we need for camping: an air-conditioned, comfortable, safe place to sleep and tons of storage. We also have added a minifridge and a microwave. 4. We camp to be outdoors, not cooped up in a camper all day. 5. Because it is stored in our garage, we can hook the camper up and be on the road in less than 30 minutes which means we camp more often. 6. Because the camper is small, we can camp in spots that larger RVs cannot. Again, small campers are not for everyone. But neither are more expensive, heavier, harder to store, larger RVs.

FOR ME, the most important item to have in a camper is a toilet with shower. And the 5° - "the Back Packer 2", is the camper trailer that comes closest to my preferences.

Yeah it's weird everyone insist on a galley and bed that takes up your entire floor space and a bunch of other BS but nobody seems to grasp the most bare essential necessities. Literally a toilet and a shower!! Crapping in the woods has a laundry list of issues/dangers BUT for some reason an outdoor kitchen matters more!?!?!? O.o wtf!? You can basically buy a mini grille at Walmart with a tiny folding table and literally fit everything in their grocery bag... You can literally just throw that in your tow vehicle and that's basically gonna do everything a damn galley would normally do for you. People are crazy paying more and or putting in a galley just so it could take up more of the last few inches of space you have left inside your already limited camper... There's gotta be something in the water because people aren't thinking straight... O.o

The pop up options seem way too expensive for what you’re getting. The value for money just isn’t there. You might as well just get yourself a tent and save thousands of dollars if you want a pop up. To me, the whole point of getting a travel trailer is to not have to worry about being exposed to the elements.

Have you heard what people here on YT have to say about ACs? Ceiling mounts are difficult to repair and can cost thousands. Wall mounts are simple to repair and if they need replacement, it's just hundreds, not thousands. Easy access and easy to install. Since Covid-19, small units like these are hard to keep in stock at dealers, and they command a bit of a premium over the prices you quoted, depending on the dealer you are working with. Look around and check out the used market over the next 6 months as many who buy these will want to trade them in on larger models. Just like when someone buys a Honda 250 street bike...its a great learner but the owner with a bit of experience will want to move up to a 750 or larger CC bike!

Reading some of the comments. It is obvious that some of the commenters don't overland or spend time outdoors. As for the prices. Teardrops have been legendary for their durability. Therefore they have value. My wife and I are 65. I still work, but my wife has retired this year. We have shopped for campers, trailers, and roof tents. We have a Ram 2500 4wd, Ram 15004wd, Dodge Durango Awd, and a Ford Explorer 4wd. We do have a bumper pull 27ft travel trailer. And an assortment of tents. The trailers in the video would be perfect for many campgrounds that are too small for our 27 footer. Or that the terrain to get there, is too rugged. As much of the BLM land in the Western USA is. And these trailers are less likely to get you a t-shirt from "Matt's Offroad Recovery" here on KZbin, "I made a call." I am 6'2"
@mindseyedesign4 жыл бұрын
Well said, thank you for the feedback. If I posted a video about campers under 20 dollars some people would still complain about the price. I don't even look at prices or consider them in 99% of the videos I make lists for. I focus on design and function. This video was for those who post everything is unaffordable in our videos. I use to go look at campers with my dad and we loved looking at the pricey ones but we never made a fuss about not being able to afford them. Seems some may expect the makers of campers to sell them at no profit. It's certainly more entertaining looking at the those with all the bells and whistles.

Some amazing stuff here. The big disappointment though was that Timberleaf. Basically a small bed with a shelf and some insulation for $8,000? At that level of minimalism I'd recommend getting a big pop-up tent, an air compressor, some inflatable mattresses and portable heating, lights, etc. Basically you'd have equal comfort, twice the space and save about $7,800.
