A preview to the Roast of Stephen Colbert 0:40 Hosted by Mindy Kaling
@snoski5 жыл бұрын
If that's a roast, then he has the insecurity of a 10-year-old. Really Colbert, she didn't mean it as a slight. It's obvious in her body language that she sincerely means that the news moves so fast you have to turn your phone off. Not that it is the ONLY thing you have to do to run a successful late night show.
@kiaraprabhu70804 жыл бұрын
@@snoski bruh it was obvious she meant to roast him. She paused beforehand and said it in such a way that it was obviously a joke
@snoski4 жыл бұрын
@@kiaraprabhu7080 ok, whatever. I don't care if she intended it as a joke. The way Stephen reacted is still dumb. He took it as a slight and interrupted her. Made himself look insecure. Had he not interrupted her, I have a feeling she was going to make some kind of comment about "because the news moves so fast you'd have to rewrite the monologue" or something like that. But we will never know because Stephen interrupted her and looked insecure, and she decided to move on without finishing her thought, joke or not.
@kiaraprabhu70804 жыл бұрын
@@snoski I don't think it's that deep. If mindy had other things to say she would've said it. Stephen's good at natural conversation and sometimes that means interruptions here and there but he's notorious for bringing out people's true feelings, so there was nothing rude there imo

@brianwalsh79315 жыл бұрын
G K, then you’d do fine as a white guy in Hawaii. I worked with a bunch of Hawaiians who would plow through their food in the first five minutes and then sleep the rest of the lunch hour. I’d look around and I was the only one awake. So even with seven other co-workers there, I was basically alone enjoying my lunch in peace. I made sure not to wake them or they’d say something stupid like, “What brah? You nevah sleep or what?” Not at lunch, morons. Go back to sleep.
@marieleelee5 жыл бұрын
I THINK that what's happening is not an actual lunch break. I think by law an employer in California must provide a lunch break for their employees where they are required NOT to work as well as the unions require that as well. What I think she's talking about is writing lunches. Where they're eating and working but they also have their actual break. Just from what I know about shows, a lot of writing gets done when eating and socializing. But they also have to follow the law. I don't think she's depriving them of that, I think they just have am extra lunch.
@brianwalsh79315 жыл бұрын

I agree in principle - however I suppose when you're writing to a deadline (as late night shows are) - every minute counts. (personally I do usually prefer / need a break) - but this is different circumstance on a separate - but related note - in my previous workplaces when they provided Friday night drinks then a lot of really crucial problem solving / communication / networking happened

I tell ya, the films and t.v shows trying to cash in on the so called "me2" movement are terrible and, worse than that, intellectually dishonest and just plain wrong. It's a film about Writers who, for some reason, are only able to write about a very narrow area of human experience, that they have experienced first hand. This is because Writers are unable to use their imaginations, and put themselves in other peoples shoes. Before Tolkien wrote The Hobbit he travelled extensively in Middle Earth and was personally acquainted with Bilbo and Gandalf.
