Let me know your top hints and tricks for Minecolonies!
@storm59362 жыл бұрын
Always have 4-5 level 5 builders around so that any builder can take on any job. (Builders are the job that I personally feel should be priority 1 for getting maxed out IMO) Also always make sure you have more guards then you think you'll need
@michaelgreen92372 жыл бұрын
Supply camp and supply ship tokens can also be found in treasure chests found around the world. (unless the modpack disables that feature)
@michaelgreen92372 жыл бұрын
A big change in 1.18 is the addition of ruined colonies to world gen. You can find unclaimed colonies spawned in the world just waiting for someone to claim them and fix them up.

Nice one Sjin, favorite would have to be dark oak, or Incan.... to be honest all of them have such great potential. I would love to see a future pack for hobbit style builds
@nebuchadnectarthe2nd6882 жыл бұрын
I honestly didn't know it was updated. I have my own mine colonies in 1.64. on my hard drive archive. I use to keep back- ups of all minecraft releases, and mod packs. Alot of times, I play via, fml, spigot, ftb launcher, depending the naustsalgia felling

When I started my first Minecolonies game, I found an abandoned colony nearby and just took it. :D Saved me the building materials for the buildings that were already there, they just had to be "repaired" and worked fine afterwards.
@helpmepls71542 жыл бұрын
you can find abandoned colonies?
@officialninya2 жыл бұрын
@@helpmepls7154 Yes, don't think it's in the 1.16 version which Sjin is playing, but in 1.18 and beyond they have abandoned colonies which can be taken and buildings are worn down and needs reparation more so than building. (missing blocks, cob webs etc.)
@xSuperiorManx2 жыл бұрын
@@officialninya I'm not sure which version that was, but those buildings were just fine. No blocks were missing, they just didn't work after claiming them. I tried a few things and then found out that you just had to click on "Repair", wait for less than a minute and when the message about the building being repaired came on screen, it worked just fine.

Medieval oak is absolutely lovely, Space wars looks like a neat style, but after you described the fortress style, I think that sounds the most interesting.
@AriinPHD2 жыл бұрын
i totally agree. id love to try caledonian too at some point but i wish there was a medieval oak small-buildings style. some buildings are just too big :)
@SkillZgetKillZ2 жыл бұрын
Protip: every style has different resource count requirements, but the same exploration requirements And, every supply camp/ship has hidden extra resources (typically gold blocks) Fortress style is amazing on the top of a large flat extreme hills biome, keep in mind the builds are sized to chunks and fit like legos Spacewars is just Tatooine from Star Wars Taiga and Snow make for great space for the Nordic style Jungle style stacks over itself and is built up in the trees around 2x2 jungle tree trunks Hive style also stack over itself and all the builds share their walls Dwarven is fully underground and creates its own stalactites and stalagmites as you level up

Some things I want to add to expand upon this: You can place additional camps and ships outside of Creative... But not for free. You only get the supplies for free once. But once you have your colony started and have a builder, you can find the camps and ships listed as decorations and have them build them. Like any other builds, you must supply the materials. So again, not for free, but if you want more purely for decorative purposes, you can still have them. Every single supply camp and supply ship has some hidden treasures like the block of gold shown in the fortress camp. Majority of them are all the same, but some have some bonus ones. Looking at the bonus materials they all have, Fortress is one of the best options, but not the absolute best. Cavern comes with two fully ready autosmelter setups, intended to help with all of the stone you'll need for a Cavern colony. Dark Oak (the one that's in a dark oak tree) has full leather armor, and though hidden, does have one of every vanilla plant, including cactus, bamboo, and all saplings, as well as beehives (gotta find them yourself). Caledonian is my personal favourite, as if you're willing to pull it apart, it has 6 full blocks of iron you can use, and being a flying ship, I find it looks cool and will keep you safe from most mobs, though it can be tedious having to go up and down all of the time. Those are, in my opinion, the most notable ones on top of the Fortress giving full leather, a shield, and a wooden sword (a great start if you make it right away), and most of the available plants. All of the ships and camps will have 16 of each raw meat (from vanilla, fish not included) and a stack of bread, as well as a full set of wooden tools. On top of the Townhall and Structure Wand, this is to help you get started. While the Fortress style does have a general layout to it, you DO NOT need to follow it exactly. The Townhall will show a guideline of suggestions (and some will be variables like "Farm or Miner"), but if you properly understand how they can connect (Citizen Huts are designed for corners while the Barracks are designed as the main gate, for example), you can mix and match however you want. The layout isn't complete, as far as I can find, and is only a suggested guideline. As such, I find the Fortress, following the layout, to be the easiest option for beginners, as it gives you a good sense of the priority for huts and lets you learn about how it all works without having to worry about where to put things for them to be functional and look good, while ignoring the layout is probably the most difficult because you can't just place stuff anywhere, they need to connect in certain ways to properly form a wall, even if they don't need to follow that layout. It also perfectly fits with the "flat surface is easier" part, as the Fortress layout doesn't really work with hills, you would need to terraform them and flatten them anyway.

I would love, love love to see you try Fortress. I've almost finished a complete Fortress colony in 1.18.2, including a moat. Fortress has some fascinating buildings that i think you would really enjoy, like an underground railway with a whole whack of different options, 3 different fully operational kelp farms, and fully-operational gates and drawbridges towers! Woo hoo! It offers two styles of guard towers, one of which is a corner exterior wall piece. I really love the way all of the exterior walls come together and the train system that runs along the inside will make your couriers very happy. I'd love to see you put your unique Sjin-ish spin on this kind of a build.

As you've said, Fortress is a good one for those who have already gone through Minecolonies, and you have gone through a playthrough. If you do start a second series of it, I feel like there should be some sort of handicap or twist to keep it from being just a repeat, in addition to a new build style. Maybe Fortress, maybe limit yourself to what Minecolonies provides and see how far you can go on that.

Don't build a colony in a dark oak forest! Pillagers or whatever they are called swarm the forests and its so annoying getting constantly attacked. If you do, use mega torches dear god 😭😭 I had to build a dirt wall around my entire colony

In the Mine Colonies modpacks runs that I am doing I prefer to start with Supply ships because some of the ships have Dispensers on the ships that you can turn into cannons by adding buttons/ redstone items to the cannons and fill the cannons with fire charges / rockets to help with defending the colony from raiders (i.e. Pirates and their ships) and/or take the Dispensers from the ship and mount them on Walls around the colony to defend from the land based raiders (i.e. the other types of Raiders) In my Main MineColonies run, Knight's Cove the supply ship has help fight off 14 raids so far ( i.e. 8 Pirate Raids with ships, 6 land base raids) The Pirate raids included taking down the Pirate ships with fire (fire charges, TNT, & rockets ).

I would not recommend the boats because unless you can find a deep enough spot near shore, you will be digging a lot of stuff under water to be able to use it.

In my experience, you don’t need to be near water. My fisher hut had it’s own water that the builder supplied. Same with the sifter and concrete mixer. So I’m pretty sure you don’t need to be near any water, I wasn’t!
