​@@sneezyanus If being able to duplicate it with a common material immediately makes it pointless to EVER return to a trial spawner again, then I'd have to wonder if a decorative armor texture is the ONLY reason you decided to go there in the first place?? You're saying you'd fight off the waves of monsters from the spawners until you get a trial key for no other reason than to have a CHANCE to get the decorative armor and none of the other loot the vaults drop, then never return again for the rest of the loot once you have it? I doubt it. But sure, let's assume a tuff block is too cheap, then how about we make the duplication recipe cost a trial key? It already costs a trial key to get one in the first place from the vault, so it's thematically appropriate, and this just allows a player to use the key to GUARANTEE the trim, rather than only having a chance at it, which would be problematic when vaults aren't renewable for a single player.

The vault is a cool idea but it could have more uses. If it was added to the End Ships and Bastion Remnants, it would solve the problem with elytra and Netherite Upgrades in multiplayer servers.

The vault actually gives you the item that appears at that time. the display cycles through the possible items, and the display that shows when you open the vault is what you get (if the loot table only gives one item, or it will include the item)

I feel like one way to make the trial chambers something people would regularly go to is to add a vault to prettymuch every other structure with loot. Not as a replacement for chests, that would be too far, rather as an additional bit of loot if you use a key. This would be fantastic for servers, as structures would be able to be used repeatedly by new players. Also, buried treasure i feel should be vaults. Considering how easy they are to find, and the fact that you can find multiple maps that lead to the same treasure, i feel it would be a good change.

@@timohara7717 Because if you make all loot from other structures into vaults then suddenly you can't get any loot from anywhere without going to the trial chambers. Instead keep the chests, but add a vault too, so if you go and get a key from the trials you get a bit more loot, or if the structure was already looted you get something instead of nothing.

Not gambling gambling requires you to use real money. You would get the key anyway for clearing a trial chamber. Therefore it's not gambling.

I actually think that the change with the spawners only giving the key is great. It makes perfect sense, and feels a little more impactful to have to then go find a vault. (and then it's not infinite loot, which, though I suggested it before, don't actually think is great).

I think the vault should contain a special battle item. One that’s not too over powered or too underpowered or so useless that it has no point, but something that can be used as an alternative to axes or swords. Something like the trident, with its own gimmicks and uncraftable, as a very rare drop. I think this would be pretty cool, giving Java players more than 2 options, where one deals more damage and one deals less damage.

I think it would be better if it had unique loot. Not necessarily OP, but unique. Something that is worth using for strategy reasons. Something clever. New enchanted book, some special sort of armor, a redstone component, a potion ingredient, something like that.

3:52 They were originally normal skeletons from the spawner, once they turned into strays it's like killing them since they aren't the original mob anymore = cleared. Least that's my guess. Edit: Rather flawed in the design I think though. Even though the room is made to turn the mobs into strays, shouldn't count as a clear. Wonder if they'll fix that,and hopefully fix their AI to not hit each other lol. Edit2: 7:53 This would be a neat challenge, find the room with the bed to change your spawn then do a "can you make a living in a trial chamber" like a survival for such and such days in minecraft. Would depend on how the loot will change too though. But testing the before and after would be fun as well.

i just thought of 2 things 1: something that can differentiate between 2 players could be insane for red stone. 2: keys could be used as an actual good currency for a large server. Because it can be “printed” but isn’t very easy to do so, it has a definite value that cannot be changed, and the key cannot be used for anything else other than getting loot. for example 80 keys = 1 golden apple, 1 key = slightly more than an enchanted pice of iron gear.

Honestly I kinda like the idea of the trial chamber being the place you go to get keys. It actually gives you a reason to collect them beyond what’s immediately needed, and they are already renewable through it.

When I used to play Minecraft, I was really into the process you had to go through to get to the end because there was a lot of exploration and combat involved to find the ender pearls and blaze rods that make the eyes of ender that you'd have to use to find the portal. Plus, having to locate the end portal with the eyes of ender was a really fun mechanic so it'd be nice for them to introduce a process of finding keys and having them open vaults in separate areas. I can imagine the faces of the people who find vaults in the End and the Nether, realise that they need a key to open it and going on a hunt for a trial chamber before they can go back and open them. If they do that though, they're gonna have to make it worth everyone's efforts with better loot.

I would like to see something special and unique to the chambers only. Maybe give it a small 5 to less than 1 percent chance to drop or whatever depending on what it is. I would like to see it be some new special weapon that alters how you fight with it, like the trident. So you can swing it around normally like a sword but you can also summon gusts of wind or shove the enemy back a few blocks or send them flying in the air a little bit

In theory you could have different difficulty levels in the same structure. Maybe you combine a vault key with blaze powder to get another key that makes the spawner release a much harder wave of enemies, which then give an elite vault key with superior loot.

Totally agree, even if they remove all the iron gear and add a few more good things, it's still going to be 'just okay' loot, so I would never bother with it. They would need to add something entirely unique or useful to the loot table to make it worthwhile, which they are never going to do, netherite was the last actual material they added and it doesn't even increase the armor value, so you can tell they don't want to power creep the game at all which is just sad tbh. You make a good point about them spending the whole update on mostly this one structure which some people won't care about, if they add these vaults to every structure with their own loot tables based on the structure or location, that might at least be more interesting by enhancing the vanilla experience.

I think vaults should replace chests in other structures. Only issue I saw was that other structures are gated behind vaults. So I think they should replace 70%ish of structure chests. That way there's a chance to get something AND there's a reason to go to vaults. I know 30% isn't a lot so maybe vaults outside of trial chambers have an additional perk. Something like x% more loot or x% chance for double loot (doubling chance is for each individual item. Ex: For 2 iron, each ingot has a chance to double. You could get 2, 3, or 4 ingots) Saw another comment saying maybe key could be found in the archaeology features as well. I like that idea as well (only if vaults were to appear outside of trial chambers though)

I do really like the vault, and as someone who was not excited in the slightest for 1.21 it’s definitely something thats piqued my interest. That being said, the trial chambers definitely still need something unique to make them worth visiting- an armor trim at the very least would be cool

I think there's highly likely a chance that the trial key will only be available in the trial chambers but the vaults will be available in different structures and so we will need to explore more trial chambers in order to get more keys for our vaults in other structures

10:07 I don't see how that's an issue. You'd only have what you literally fought for. It's not like ore mining where you'll get stone and deepslate whether you want it or not. You have to go out of your way to get keys. You can't enter, stay in, and clear an already cleared chamber all on accident.

I think the vault should have its own armor trim. More armor trims are always nice and it would make the vault more worth trying to find. I think as well the vaults should have things like maybe enchantments only found in trial chambers, like auto smelt enchantment, double jump enchantments maybe, stuff like that. It just needs some items that are unique to it that make it worth the risk.

I play on a device that can’t handle huge worlds so I try to keep exploration to a minimum. It would be nice if these would reload after so much time so they can benefit single players beyond the functionality of a chest and help people that have to play with limited storage

Gonna test it! Edit: It works! But you would have to break some area on a trial chamber. That is something that the more tryharder players can make to have some fun.

They should occasionally give you a smithing template so you don't have to deal with bastions. I hate they made you have to find one and then defeat it just to get one or two netherite items. The trial chamber vaults should have rare armor trims or new weapons or enchantment books. I hope they listen to the community more. We still dont have a way to craft duplicate sherds even yet trims have recipes. I would think maybe theres a sherd duplication template item as a reward? I dont want to have to search thousands and thousands more blocks out in search of a duplicate warden sherd in a deep sea ruin if I already have one lol I'm just tossing out good ideas for multiple trips to trial chambers for keys in hopes to get rare rewards and not just diamond or horse armor when they update the loot table

I'm not sure this update will be aimed at everyone. Right now it seems like it's very much about the multiplayer experience so even if there is something added outside of the trial chamber I expect it will still focus on multiplayer.

Minor correction: all the vaults simply replaced the "reward" loot chests from previous snapshots; there were no terrain changes to the trial chambers. Also, the placeholder loot table for the vaults is the exact same as those reward chests.

If it's about the first part, I've been poking around in the trial chamber snapshots, and I can verify that all the chests that pulled from the "trial reward" loot table have been swapped out with vaults (excluding the secret chest below the tree). Plus, some of the combat chambers are built from a variety of interior pieces, making each instance of that chamber slightly different (e.g. regarding the vault Toycat found on an isolated ledge: sometimes that ledge connects to the nearby platform, sometimes it doesn't).

An armor trim wouldn't be needed. The point of this whole thing is for players is to get stuff on multiplayer. Also when are villagers going to sell you a map to the trial chamber? I feel like that's way more relevant. Also btw i wonder how the trial chambers would look if they generate on a wide open cave. Perhaps it'd look a bit weird.

I think the trial keys should be locked to one specific trial dungeon so uou can't collect a hige amount and then raid others super quickly with all the keys you have, as we all know tons of players will do.

Confusion? I'm confused on how there was confusion. We didn't know anything about the vault until recently, and they said perfectly well that it was a multiplayer-focused loot system, and there were many in a Trial Chamber. What's to be confused about? People (like me) just don't like missing out on the rejuvenating loot. It will be the same outcome no matter how many players come in to use it. It will eventually not be able to give loot, and might as well be an empty chest.

this is more impressive than i thought since it can be gotten pretty easily, great for early game. though as u said it doesnt rly have any use for late game, and i feel like itd only be something i used if i came across it early game (in its current state). i think it needs some more higher tier items. i guess 1/10 for notch apple is pretty good, but i think it needs some other good stuff too. maybe a trim would be cool, i think some potions would be cool too [not entirely random but like out of a list of some good potions, ud only get one if u do get the chance so its not broken, but would make it more interesting]. i think something that might be a bit far fetched since its a new item [although no real work goes into making it codewise, just the translations of it] would be a haste potion, it would be very useful for mining, and something unique here, but im not sure if theres a reason they havent done a haste potion before that would mean they wouldnt do it now.

Personally, the vaults kinda suck. They should have LITERALLY made them chests. Right now they're single use, and only really drop a few items at a time (usually just tools or armor, which really sucks). The more I see it in action the more disappointed I am. It _should_ be the solution we've been waiting for, to allow multiple players to be able to loot a single structure... But instead, its just lackluster in every way.

@@fldom4610 not at all. In fact it helps everyone be able to still find them late game once you and your server mates die a million times. It helps keep world file sizes smaller and let's you better enforce world exploration distances to keep future updates so there's less reason to load more chunks. Easier to find new content and avoid loaded chunk surprise's.

they keep on adding a ton of random things instead of trying to do the cool stuff like the end update. i feel like theyre planning something big and theyre just adding a bunch of random stuff that could come together to unlock something big, like maybe you have to travel the world for tons of different items and then you can unlock that portal in the deep dark, or maybe itll be a part of the end update, and things you get from the overworld will unlock something in the end and theyre just preparing for that update by making all the overworld challenges first. also having a bunch of not so good updates and then all of a sudden a huge update like the deep dark update or end update would probably make a huge popularity boost. they must be planning something.

You can get oxidation easily by placing them and having them five blocks apart each

@@EmperorPenguin1217 No buddy you cant. For literally anyone that doesnt have a pc and still uses the 5 blocks apart method they cant afk forever so it takes days. Also there are a lot of people like myself whos parents do not allow them to afk for hours. So no its not easy.
