Would run terrible in UE5, most games do. Using Java like the first game did would make a lot of sense since Notch already knows how to use it. Unity engine is another option, although game devs are still weary of them due to the fiasco they had a while ago. Getting a team together to make a custom engine is another option, but would make the game take longer to make.

Yeah, no. While UE5 is very realistic, its optimization is poor as hell. Almost all games run terrible on it.

No disrespect, but i hate that everyone just jumps on the UE5 train every time someone talks about developing a game. Yes the Unreal 5 engine has crazy photorealism and modern tech, but the charm of Minecraft was that it was coded by an Indie Developer in Java and piecemailed together as time went on. There's a reason why Java edition is still regularly being modded, updated, and maintains its position as the most popular version of Minecraft.

Notch has stated before that he's doing it in JavaScript and that the pixel retro style is what he feels most comfortable doing so the "minecraft 2" will most likely look extremly similar to the current one, whilst being a bit different content wise

I hope it’s still blocky but the blocks are different sizes, a tree trunk could vary in thickness, rocks could be big or small, etc. I also hope that it has more unique and interesting boss battles that you can’t just cheat around. Another suggestion is for the survival aspect to be much more difficult, having the possibility of injury, infections, more dangerous monsters and more stuff like that. Fourthly, I’d love to see more types of villages like peaceful ones, all the way to massive castles full of villagers that will use cannons against you. And I’ve seen this in a video and I really like the concept, TIMELINES, depending on rng, or by using a custom timeline feature, you can spawn into a world with its own uniqueness, like maybe your world is in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, or maybe your world is 100 million years in the past and there’s dinosaurs still roaming around, and maybe your world is scorched, burning temperatures and near to no trees. I believe that the ways Notch could go with this game are endless and I can’t wait to see how it turns out

Minecraft never added cows spreading plants and mushrooms (poo does not have to be depicted), or similar features to any other animals, as long as the new game implements this and highlights the blocky terrain; Doesn't obscure it with trees and tall grass, it should be a wowing mosaic game. OH And 16X16 Lighting; not "smooth" or "off" please Santa, lawn fairy elves and also Notch. ... seeing the progress images, it's a shame it's going to higher resolution cubes because the particles should be rhombic dodecahedron to simulate how mater stacks, but at a very low resolution compared to atoms, this Minecraft 2 will be an in between game before then. the version that should have come out is 16x16 smooth lighting. for maximum beauty. may the process be fulfilling!
