I really think we need the ability to enchant the dog armor for it to be useful, imagine doggos with blast or projectile protection. Also yeah definitely make them dyeable and/or armor trims

Yeah but I’m also getting tired of equipments becoming only good once you enchant them. Like enchanting should feel like a bonus, not like a required thing to make a tool functional. I would prefer if they simply buffed wolf armor’s blast protection in the code.

None of those options would make sense unless carried over to horse armour (which while leather variant is dyable, none of the ore materials are). Armadillo armour likely never will be dyable for similar reasons as the ore variant horse armour. Trims and enchantments aren't off the table but would have to be done with both horse armour too for parity.

And yet, they will not. Because the shit they said about lost votes being added is just that: bullshit. Take the Nether update for example. Best time to add the upgraded blaze mob that lost to the phantom (why did people think an anti-sleep mob was a good idea?) but that update instead got a mob that replaced the pigmen and a more hostile pig, with no upgraded blaze to be found. The sooner we face it the better. Mojang has become lazy, and there is no point asking them for good updates. Like, how long has the fanbase been asking for new dimensions? YEARS. So why haven’t they added one, even if it takes a lot of work? Because they don’t want to. Mojang doesn’t want to face the long process of gaining the favor of fans because they think it’s too much work when modders do all the work for them. Not to mention, they know what we want, but refuse to add them, because they’ve put things we’ve wanted in April fools updates only to delete them from the game next day. Sometimes, it feels like Mojang hates their fans almost as much as Nintendo. Take the Crafter and Copper Bulb. Everyone loved them on first release, but then Mojang nerfed them into the ground, claiming it to be a bug, and now refuse to change it back, ignoring the enormous feedback asking to do so.

Diamond armor for horses is a good first step, but we really need enchantments. A 55% increase in health only goes so far when the AI for wolves constantly has them getting in your way, walking into lava, falling off steep ledges, etc.

I would love to be able to add a leather pouch to the armor that the dogs can wear which holds meat for them. That way they can feed themselves when low on health making healing a pack so much easier. Maybe it can only hold one piece and you only know it's empty by the visual on the armor so you still have to do occasional personal care, but keeping track of dogs in a fight and healing them up can get so confusing.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the armadillo armor is equivalent to diamond horse armor and not the leather one...but it doesn't fully feel like a sufficient protection for dogs. It's nice to have, and the dog looks cool in it, but I'm not sure if it will make players who were worried to get a dog because they were so prone to dying, actually feel like the armor's changed things enough for them to get a dog now.

I'll say this much: they are delivering what they promised, which wasn't much. They could, though, take this opportunity to improve the AI of pets to make them not die to lava, suffocation, etc. I'm still fairly disappointed that Mojang continues to hold up the mob vote when they could, and I am positive this is the case, add all three mobs. I cannot see, from a software engineer's perspective, any reason to not do so other than some kind of insane marketing strategy they might be trying to tackle, which I cannot see how would benefit the company in anyway. I would love for them to just listen more to the community presses, even if they don't have to, given it's the company's game, but just to try to be more open to suggestions and stuff...

IMO this isnt enough. The dog is still going to die. It takes 1 creeper explosion, 1 tnt, 1 piece of lava, or just a few mobs at once for it to die. Let us enchant the armor, or add a chest like a llama, or atleast fix their ai so they don't just jump off cliffs/into lava.

This update reminded me of some of my old ideas and inspired new ones and even if Mojang doesn't add this officially, I hope someone who knows modding & wants to make a pet-themed one will do it. Some of my ideas are: 1. Pet beds - when placed down, you can assign any pet to it (dog, cat, parrot, whatever naturally follows you when tamed) and it allows you to choose whether they follow you or stay in a closed-in area or within a set radius. That way you can keep them home without them just sitting in one place. - can be used as a respawn point for pets, even if it only works once and then needs repaired/replaced it'd still be nice (but preferably unlimited, functioning like the player's bed) - different types specific for different pets, like a two-block-tall perch for a parrot, a one-block-sized box or 2x2x2 cat tree for a cat, a 2x2x1 dog bed, or a little 2x2x2-block doghouse for the dogs! - especially if it's just the standard, pad-on-the-floor type bed, some customization would be nice, just changing the main color alone would be good enough 2. Treat pouch - allows you to store whatever food item heals your pet - holds multiple types while only using one inventory slot - holds up to a full stack per pouch slot of any pet food types - when in your inventory, automatically feeds your nearby pets when they get injured - upgradable to add more slots?? 3. Stray feeding station (does not work on villagers) - attracts nearby non-hostile animals when filled with that animal's preferred food - increases spawn rates of animals whose food is inside - decreases distance away from untamed animals before they are spooked & run away - decreases the quantity of food items needed to tame animals - decreases the time for untamed animals to quit being aggro when accidentally hit I don't know how, but am very willing to help in any way I can if anyone wants to make any of these ideas.

I play Bedrock on my phone, and I gave up on scutes, it's just too time-consuming. I guess it's the same for armadilloes. I've also realized I do not need to tame all wolves, so I can leave my stack of bones at home and free an inventory slot. I'll leave my doggies home without an armour. No shade on Mojang or the Cap, it's just not my thing. Thanks Captain!

Thank you for demonstrating the brush in survival rather than creative. Loads of clips online show the brush function in creative and don't experience the brush durability, leading people to believe that you can infinitely get scutes in-game.

Armadillos eat insects, invertebrates, fruit, eggs, and small animals. They even eat carrion aka rotting corpse. So makes sense they breed with spider eyes. They live in rainforests, grasslands, and semi-deserts. So it'd be cool if the design changed in those bioms.
