the sanity system seems to be based off of Don't Starve's sanity system, given the rain draining your sanity.

As someone who plays don't starve together it is true, however it only full starts to effect sanity when you at a certain wetness. also in dst you don't lose sanity from kiilling animals (unless its apart of a survivors gimic). the only thing i would change in that mod is changing the sanity drain from animals to villagers as its both makes more sense but also its less challenging.

The rain making you slowly insane also seems a bit much, I could not imagine my sanity ever lowering because of the rain(of which I love). I think this mod would really benefit from letting you be able to toggle what makes your sanity go up, down or not move at all tbh. Unless it already lets you do that. Edit: It lets you do that

The reason trampling crops and farmland makes you go insane is because you are undoing progress that could potentially lead to your salvation. Imagine you don't want to kill *anything*, you don't want their blood on your hands, you are starving, and you undo the crop that *almost* allowed you to eat today. Pretty soul crushing

Btw, 'sanity' just refers to general psychological state. It collapses two dimensions (sanity and emotional state) into one, so that's why you lose 'sanity' when you do things that make your character sad.

No you dont lose Sanity in the snow biome. What happened is that the player fell from a certain height losing Sanity, In this mod, if you take damage, you lose Sanity 1:12

Seeing your sanity drop down when you're wet or killing animals is quite realistic for some people. Rain isn't the best thing to have while you're in a survival situation. Not only is your character naked, it's probably feeling cold as well. Sure you can enjoy the rain but you just spawned in. You can't remove your clothes because it's it's part of you. Imagine walking from point A to point B, in a rain, without any village in sight, in a large forest. Idk about you but I wouldn't be smiling at that time. You could be but I'm not you. Same with animals. There's a reason why we respect the hunters and those who butcher animals for consumption. They could kill the animal that could scream in pain from your attacks. I had listened to a live pig screaming in pain as it slowly bleeds out because it got its neck sliced for blood to flow each time a festival comes around. Even chickens aren't safe at times. Most animals feel pain like us, they just can't properly say it but could show it. That's why there's the "humane" way of killing or hunting animals, we have learned to atleast understand that most sentient beings in earth is alive. Your average hunter or gun enthusiast might not get bothered by killing an animal, even a desperate person won't mind because well, he's desperate but for someone who never hunted? Nah, I know I ain't living to see the day that I'll get to kill an animal for survival since I never experienced doing that to live. Again, we are different people. You might hate it because it's not that of a good mechanic but if there's a setting, you can edit it to your own personal description. Most of the things that makes your sanity down is tied to your survival. Wet = getting cold = hypothermia = death. Animal hunting for the first time = new experience = scars you for a while. Getting hurt = pain = fear of suddenly being incapacitated. Dark = possible monsters made by our minds = more fears. The mod also shows that having a company like a pet around or having dirt paths will grant you sanity because even if we want to be alone, you'll need to have someone to talk to like how castaway did it with the volleyball wilson. Having a company will eventually be our goal as we're quite a social group. Pathways = civilization = safety = people. In real life, being lost in a forest for god knows how long can be scary and seeing a man made road from that forest gives us a sense of hope or relief. The road gave us a reason to not fear for a while. Even if the sanity mechanic is derived from the game Don't Starve, most of the things that is in this mod kinda accurately fits a person's mental fortitude around things. Whether you're used to killing animals or used to living in the rain, we're different people with different mental capabilities. This mod needs a decent setting so you can adjust it to your preference so it reflects what you'd feel on those moments.

Ive tried this mod with a few different mods like cave dweller, man from the fog, zombie awareness,.. and it takes lots of multitasking lol. Game was basically sleep every night and avoiding dark places. Well.. once I went to the nether to get blaze rods it changed everything. You cant stay long in the nether cuz you become insane and die instantly. I was becoming insane whilst running back onto my bridge over the lava to the portal and see a zombie pigman with white eyes and skeleton running from far away into my direction where I need to go. And they knocked me down into lava. 🤯
