Episode 5 of a let's build series in which I want to build a whole city quarter with you!
Alot of things will be explained while building, but it is not a tutorial.

You should put more wells, in medieval times it was important because if some house happens to catch on fire it would spread and make huge disaster. So if i was in your place i would put well in the middle of the road so it would kinda split road .

I think you should add an other logs block between the archway and the house over it (on the left of the building there you put fences in this ep) and in the first floor too

@Madnes64 is there a tutorial for the wall in this city on your channel, I can't find one? Also perhaps could you do a sorta wall house tutorial like these houses. sorta having a bunch of houses together?

Hey Madness, first things first, nice Video! :) My problem at building houses are where to place houses. I dont know where to place it, or dont know where and when i must connect houses with them. Thats my little problem at buildings. Because i am building a little town and it is hard for me, which is what house I build first. I would be very happy if you make a video about it :) - Slaughter

I would suggest you add: Taverns A HUGE market square Barracks Witch craft shoppes and breweries Wine cellars Dungeons Inns An arena And to make bakeries, butchers, workshopped, stores, and other utilities stand out more

it is a narrow house, but wasn't it supposed to be part of the house on it's left side? so why don't you just connect the 2 opper stories? now you have a pretty useless room, but I really like this style of building!

The only thing I dislike about these buildings is that you don't (can't, in some cases) put staircases in them xD But they look interesting, that is undeniable.

Hey Madnes, I normally play Xbox360 MC, and i'm not really used to PC. I just got PC Minecraft the other day, and everyone has all these mods and worldedit stuff and all that. Think you can give me some tips on PC Minecraft? The controls feel really different, and buildings is kind of annoying haha. Oh and do you have any good seeds?

Madnes probably won't, but I will. PC minecraft is a definite upgrade to console (I have played all 3 different platforms of minecraft.) and Although I know how to use mods and texture packs, I rarely do anymore. I would recomend getting used to the controls through survival as survival on pc is much more advanced than xbox and less buggy. Also planet minecraft has seeds for you.

Idea that you could do: to make a random house to stand out, make the house that is going to be next to the market stall a few blocks bigger and use quarts stone for the walls\siding

Use hardened clay more, not just on the small houses but in the bigger houses as well. (P.S use spruce wood doors)

Does your mic cut out at points, or do you edit it out? It sounds edited because it fades rather than just cutting. If you do edit your voice out at points, what's your reasoning for that?

I like your style alot and the whole city looks extreamly epic, but I feel your taking this randomization a little too far... Oviously this is a rich city. This isn't some little hamlet, this is a structured port city so I don't really understand why you would want to make things look so random. I like the random look alot, especially in older or less established parts of town and that's important. But by randomizing everything you do the opposite and nothing looks random because its all random :P It's a hard concept to explain and now I'm babbling but I think for a lot of building it would be better if it were less random looking.

i dont mean to hate. but wouldn't you been better of with building a new city. she was so awesome before and didn't need a comeplete do over (not saying that the new one isn't awesome aswell). making a new city would have 1. whole new start over with this new style of yours 2. a new city so the whole kingdom would be both larger and more realistic.

Sandy McTire Your world is in a shell, based on how aggressively you find your opinion more important than others. Realistic is not the only measure and it for sure doesnt define who is good. If Madnes made these slightly bigger, his building style would glow. He has bigger designs in his city, based on facebook pictures. Those are much better than these. These are way too cramped and would look better in slightly bigger scale or even the larger shape would do the trick. All I'm saying.
