Matthew Bolan also made a tier list for the types of rooms, and how frequently portal rooms occur AFTER them in their branch (I believe using some machine learning stuff). This tierlist can help you decide when to cut a branch short, and which branches to prioritize, if you have options. S - 4 way rooms A - 5 way B - Corridor C - Stairs, Prison Hall D - Chest corridor, spiral stairs F - Turns I'm not 100% sure on the methodology, but Bolan seems like a smart enough guy to avoid obvious pitfalls. In addition, this command: /execute positioned ~2000 ~ ~2000 run locate stronghold can be used about 7 times per world (for the first 7 rings, the 8th being very sparse), it searches for a stronghold +2000,+2000 away from your current position, and then you can teleport to it. Ninjabrain uses this to create new worlds and practice stronghold routing, it's very effective.

Oh, man... I wish knew that command when I was testing strongholds... Hah! I kept teleporting to various places in each ring, hoping I'd be near a stronghold. It was a two-step process at best. In some cases, the locate command would find the same stronghold I just left. Thanks for posting the info on the rooms as well! I wasn't able to find anything on it when I searched, but probably wasn't looking in the right place.

That’s good stuff! I also like how he emphasized always going down the middle first and seeing a four-way early is a good thing. I didn’t cover it in my video (and didn’t know about it), but it definitely makes sense to consider the likelihood of a portal room spawning based on what you know about the real estate available down a particular branch. This is an old comment but I wanted to add that "/spreadplayers 0 0 0 24000 false @s" works very well too. It teleports you randomly within 24,000 blocks from spawn, and then you just /locate the nearest stronghold. It'll give you way more than 7 uses per world before you start getting the same strongholds again.

Thanks! I didn't know about them either until I saw speedrunners knocking holes in walls in what I thought were random locations. I set off to figure out how they knew where the secret rooms were located and arrived at this video.

Gonna put these to use really soon. Spawned on a small medium island and first night was tunneling fore ores and close to spawn. Second day im in the stronghold by accident and started smelting and gearing up. Hope these tips help i dont wanna do creative exploring im normal survival on this one. Bonus tip dont explore the caves or ravines that you find even if they go below Y12. Cuse its time consuming fetching your gear if you die in a cave when you were exploring the stonghold. Twice ive fallen to that distraction luckily not in lava yet.

The starter staircase can have a door to the 5 way room. You’ll know it’s the starter if it leads up to nowhere and the center is at 4,4 in the current chunk.

The portal room is not less than 6 rooms from the starter staircase. Each room you travel through after the sixth room will reduce the probability of finding the portal room. So, yes, the portal room should be located “close-ish” to the starter staircase but theoretically can be located 50 rooms away. Albeit, very unlikely.

Yes, navigation is pretty much the same. The only thing I haven’t checked is the way to identify secret rooms. Now I’m curious and will check. : )

@@boomerplayz1 I need help with my stronghold. I have been to every room in the entire structure, blocking off paths I've fully explored so I dont go down them again. Now I have a problem, Even after ALL that not a single room was the portal room, AND a ravine is making the stronghold scuffed. Is there a possibility that the ravine has a secret cut room from the rest? or that I missed "secret" rooms? I'm playing on bedrock and for some reason I get the shittiest luck when it comes to strongholds. I remember I found a stronghold that was 30+ blocks away from the starter staircase, and took 2 hours to find it. I am on bedrock edition. Lastly, is there a possibility that the ravine obstructed the portal room??

@@vulblhotdiessfi It’s possible that the ravine cut through where the portal room tried to generate. It’s rare, but some strongholds may generate without a portal room due to those types of factors. It sucks…

Did the starter staircase lead to a 5-way room? If not, it may not have been the starter staircase you found. Also, did you check for hidden doors/pathways?

@@boomerplayz1no it lead to one of the rooms where there’s a stair case going on top of the double white slabs.( also it didn’t lead to the 5x5 room u we’re talking about) Also I have searched for each 3x3 dead end for secret rooms but strangely I haven’t found any but I will keep searching. @@niccocaredda9876 Thanks for your support and encouragement! Regarding the staircase you found, if you travel up it, does it dead-end (lead to nowhere)? The starter staircase should dead-end at the top. It could also be a goofy stronghold that didn’t generate properly (rare, but does happen).

Yes, but it’s rare. It can happen if a ravine or other formations generate in the same area. A portal can partially spawn as well, due to the same reason.
