The potion effect didn't dissipate, when you drank the milk to get rid of the poison it also got rid of the night vision effect.

Very few people have been doing it since the launch of the new server. Beef doesn't do it any more as he no longer enjoys it as much as he did. I am sure it will start up again, just not very soon as most people are playing vanilla only. :)
