We need woolly pistons that don't make noise.
@d.12412 жыл бұрын
@@theapexsurvivor9538 So, the sound is definitely part of it, but also, because the water is transparent, you're going to see the constant movement. I also imagine that's a constant stream of block updates relative to the flowing water. I've never written a mod before, but if the water can check and update all water in the cascade everytime the lapis is updated, it'd probably be simpler to have it check one time, and only change behavior if it's updated by placing an adjacent block. Like floating sand, it's static on spawn, but the second it gets an update, that update updates all blocks around it and causes all connected sand to fall. Again though, I've never modded minecraft, so maybe I'm wildly off base.

I say, as a suggestion, to replace the Lapis updating with something else, primarily because of the sound of the pistons. Maybe, if possible, like some interaction with some other blocks next to it similar to the conduit arrangement to create the effect, like Lapis on top of a gold block or something. Also, I quite like the sound of roaring waterfalls, something like scaling the sound based on the straight vertical drop of the water.

I think the best method would be if you just "powered" the source block via redstone, you wouldn't be able to power it directly (in most cases) but you could always power the water source through a solid block.

This mod is just a necessity for me now. Adds so much immersion to the game with such small features. One suggestion I would have is making it so you just need one lapis block touching one water source block to get the cascade effect everywhere. In my opinion, the pistons constantly firing in the backgroun breaks the illusion.

Effective on 1.20.1 Fabric. Would like to see it happen or for it to even be allowed to happen. Honestly, the fact that no-one can port it back to Fabric because of licensing or whatever is very frustrating, given how experimental Quilt is and how difficult it is to get my preferred mods to work on it. If no-one else is allowed to do it, please do it yourself -- it worked on Fabric before, it can work again, albeit with probably less features, but I'd still prefer something over nothing. Beating a dead horse here, just found this frustrating as a casual user and wanted my thoughts on the matter somewhere.

kinda late, but here's some... weather effect ideas 1) Fog. From the time the sun starts to rise, to the time the sun fully clears the horizon (ignoring obstacles) there is a cloud layer that forms at ocean level, from the surface to, say, 5 to 20 blocks above the water's surface, using similar programming to the already existing cloud generating program in game 2) Heavy Storms. When a weather event happens, there's a chance that a heavy storm will generate. A heavy storm targets a large area (maybe 9 chunk by 9 chunks or higher) where visibility will drop, as if you turned down your render distance to its lowest setting, for as long as the player is in it, but the unloaded color matches the type of storm. Heavy Rainstorms (almost any biome) will have dark grey unloaded coloring, Heavy Snowstorm (any biome where it snows instead of rains) which is either white or a light blue-ish white, and Heavy Sandstorm (desert and maybe mesa biomes) where its a sand-brown color. Visibility would only return when a) the player is outside of the Heavy Storm's radius, or b) the game or mod registers that the player is underground (going into certain caves doesn't count as underground unless either you seal the entrance behind you and are a set distance away from any unsealed entrances)

One thing, have you optimized for sound length? There's a sound physics mod that suffers really bad with the old waterfall sounds, because there are a lot of individual short sounds... If you were not aware of this, cloud you please consider changing the cascade sounds to a longer one, concatenating a few of the current ones and adjusting for frequency: would sound the same, and would help his system...
